JetBlue is offering a 50% bonus points on all TrueBlue points purchased between April 14 and May 31, 2011. Additionally, the transaction fees have been removed during this time period. You can purchase these points for yourself or a friend.
Is this a good deal? Even with the 50% bonus, this still isn’t a great. One way rewards start at 5,000 points, which would cost you $127.17 USD (for 5,250 points). For the lowest level rewards, typically a flight which only requires 5,000 points can be purchased for probably about $70+tax. The only reason this would be valuable is if you are just shy to the number of points needed to redeem a reward flight.
However, there are those few select times when JetBlue runs special promotions where many reward flights are 5,000 for even expensive fares. In those cases, purchasing these points might be beneficial, but I would not act on this promotion just for those rare times.
Terms and Conditions: Price is in USD and includes a 7.5% tax recovery charge. GST/HST will be charged to Canadian residents. Members may buy a maximum of 60,000 points per calendar year, and can receive a maximum of 60,000 points per calendar year as a gift. Purchased points are non-refundable and are applicable towards all TrueBlue awards. Points purchased will be posted within 72 hours. All standard TrueBlue program terms and conditions apply.
