Today Daily Getaways is selling Hilton HHonors Points at a rate of .0055 cents/1 point. The deal goes on sale at noon EST May 2, 2011. Like all the other sales, my assumption is that this sale will sell out within 1 minute. Also, like all other Daily Getaway deals, you will receive 10% off by using any AMEX credit card for the purchase.
Like all other point purchases it really depends on your strategy for redeeming points. For example, for this promotion you can purchase 100,000 Hilton Honor points for $550 ($495 if using an AMEX). 100,000 points can be redeemed for a 2 night stay at a category 7 stay. The Bora Bora Nui Hilton Resort averages $700/night for a total of $1400 for the two nights. To only pay $550 for these two nights is a great savings! On the other hand, to redeem for a three night stay at a category 4 hotel for $150/night would not be worth it.
In my opinion, this offer is not as great as the Hyatt offer, however, again, it really depends on your typical redemption rate. If you can redeem for more than 1.5 cents/point, I’d say go for it. If you are not going to receive enough savings from the promotion, I’d steer away as you are then restricted by redemption availability and the potential for points to be devalued at some point again. Also remember, you do not earn points or eligible for promotions when redeeming points.
- 100,000 Hilton HHonors – $550 (only 200 available; max quantity – 1)
- 150,000 Hilton HHonors – $825 (only 150 available; max quantity – 1)
- 250,000 Hilton HHonors – $1,375 (only 150 available; max quantity – 1)
Not quite sure yet if I am going to attempt to jump on this promotion. I already have so many HHonor points and with the constant devaluation, not sure I want more sitting in the bank when I have Hilton vacations planned.
