Hilton HHonors Gold Status and 5,000 Points for Visa Signature Card Members

Via One Mile at a Time Hilton Honors is giving special treatment to Visa Signature Credit Card Members (for example, Marriott Rewards and American Airline Credit Cards). Upon registering you will automatically be given Gold status through August 31st. Additionally, if you stay three times (not nights), between now and August 31st, Hilton will extend your Gold status through March 2013.

If you are already have Gold or Diamond status, Hilton will credit your account with 5,000 points. This is not stated on the page, but upon entering your credit card number and then Hilton Honors information, you will be notified of this. What is unclear is Gold and Diamond members will be able to partake in the challenge and  be able to extend status through March 2013 with three stays. The way I read it, it seems as though you will not.

UPDATE: It is confirmed that you will not be able to extend your status through this challenge if you are already are Gold or Diamond at Hilton.

Additionally, the system was having some technical issues for me last night, but worked this morning. You might have to try a few times.

Advantages of Gold status:

  • 25% point bonus on all stays
  • Complimentary high-speed internet access
  • Gold elite member on-property benefits (click here to learn more about these benefits as they differ per Hilton brand)

  1. If you’re already Gold or Diamond, you will NOT be able to extend your status via this offer. I registered for the 5000 points, and the fine print indicated this quite explicitly. Sorry I closed the window before copying the text.

    • Thanks Aleks! I did not think so. Hilton is always running some sort of status challenge, so Gold/Platinum members I am sure will receive another chance. And 5,000 bonus miles is a great perk!

  2. I suppose it might be poor manners to poo-poo something that is given for free, but if you’re Gold or Diamond already, 5000 points is really scraps and crumbs. With even a Category 3 hotel requiring 25K points, 5K points are a disappointing way to reward your best customers!

    • @Ed – I agree that 5,000 points won’t get you too far at Hilton, but with the many free ways to get points lately I’ve been able to accumulate a ton, so 5K here and there have started to add up to something!
