Marriott Platinum/Gold BOGO Elite Certificates: July 8 – Aug 28

This post may contain affiliate links from our advertising partners, such as American Express. Read my Advertiser Disclosure policy here. Additionally, some of the offers on this page may no longer be available through Deals We Like.

Marriott elite BOGO certificates have been announced and are available for redemption between July 8 and August 28. These certificates are offered 3-4 times throughout the year typically with a month lag time in between. They are available for platinum and gold members, however, you are allowed to “gift” them to friends to use for their stay. The certificates do not have individual numbers on them, so they can be used many times throughout the promotional period.

For those of you who are unaware of these certificates, they are good for 1 free weekend night (Fri, Sat, Sun) with a paid stay at participating Marriott, JW Marriott, and Renaissance non-resort hotels in the US. There are also a limited number of international properties included in this promotion. These certificates are good for any publicly listed rate (not good for AAA, corporate rates, Marriott Rewards rates, etc.).

I have used these MANY times and they have been amazing. I have saved anywhere from $100 – $250 for the 2nd night at hotels in Detroit, Tampa, San Francisco, Savannah, London, and Boston. Unfortunately, they are starting to exclude more and more cities, i.e, Boston, Washington DC, and NYC, but there are still many hotels where they can be used.

To use the certificate, just call the Platinum elite line 1-800-228-9290 and have them note that you are using the buy one get one certificate. Ensure you speak to a Platinum elite representative as typically they are they only ones that know of these certificates. There is no special rate code associated with this certificate – if the representative is asking for a rate code, hang up and call again to speak to a representative who is more knowedgable about these certificates. The representative will also be able to tell you which publicaly listed rates apply.

When you check into the hotel, give the front desk the printed out certificate to apply to your stay. Many times the person working at the front desk is not aware of this promotion so you might have to explain the certificate to them along with the terms and conditions. When you check out make sure to look at the bill. About 50% of the time I need to go back to the front desk to have them adjust the rate. Ensure to print out two copies of the certificate if you need to re-show them the certificate to explain how it works. There have been a decent number of times were the certificate got lost and having a duplicate served in my favor. Ultimately I have never had an issue, but just takes some extra explanation and time.

  1. Is the list of international participating Marriotts the same for both the dining promotion and the nights promotion?

Wondering if I can use a cert to get a BOGO at the restaurant at the Marriott Vienna…

    • @ Steve – the site is down so I am not able to see the exact participating locations. However, the US and international participating locations I believe differ for promotion, so it is best to look at the specific certificate on the Marriott website itself to see the list of properties for the dining 2-for-1 promotion.

  2. Sorry for the dumb question, but is there a to quickly get at least temporary platinum and gold status so I can buy some of these. Thanks!

    • @ kpfares – do you currently have gold status? Or is it still pending based on the fast track requirements?

  3. I currently have gold status. When I log in it reads: Membership Level: GOLD

But I don’t see the print button or the gift to a friend button on the screen. Where is that located?

    • @kpfares – to send the voucher to a friend you can just print the voucher and give it to them, or print to a pdf and send it via email.

    • @kpfares – The terms and conditions state that you have to book by phone, however, I typically book online and have never had a problem.

You absolutely need to print out the page and hand it to the hotel upon check-in. I would also highly suggest printing out a duplicate copy as there have been times when the bill was not correct upon check out and I needed to re-show the voucher.

    • @ Heidi – currently there are no fast track to gold offers. However, this certificate can be “gifted” to you by a friend.
