Every now and then hotels.com has some great promotions giving out free nights for active travelers. This time, they are offering a free night stay (after one paid stay) for those who have a) stayed at 3 different hotels since 1/1/11 or b) stayed at the same hotel at least 5 times since 1/1/11. This is for those who are not yet part of hotels.com “Welcome Rewards” program. However, you can always register with another email to take advantage of the promotion.
To receive the free night, you must follow these steps:
- Register for the promotion here.
- Submit proof of the three or five stays within 45 days.
- Make a reservation at hotels.com by November 15, 2011 using the coupon code that you received in the email upon registering.
- A free night will then be awarded to your account which will be equal to the average daily rate, before taxes and fees, of the stay using the coupon code (the maximum value of the free night cannot exceed $400).
Overall, the promotion is pretty straight forward. Although it does take some manual effort to send in your previous hotel statements, it is well worth it to get a free night. Additionally, when registering for this promotion you will be automatically enrolled in their FIVESTAR program until December 31, 2011. After looking more into this program, it doesn’t look too special to me, but some might enjoy its benefits (special phone number, premium price match, early access to promos/deals).
Remember that typically you cannot earn points for hotel stays when using hotels.com since it is a third party vendor, but it is great to use for boutique hotels who do not offer a rewards program anyways.
