New Hyatt Promotion (3K or 5K After 3 Nights) and Changes to the Hyatt Gold Passport Program

Hyatt has just announced a new promotion (however, might be targeted), for guests to earn either 3,000 or 5,000 points after 3 nights at any Hyatt hotel. If you received the email, I would register for the one you were targeted for. If you did not receive the email, I would suggest registering for the 5K point offer first, then the 3K offer. I was able to register for both, but not sure if they can be staked (also not sure if I will receive the points since I did not receive the targeted email). Since the promotion was just announced on August 5, there are no indication of others receiving the points if they were not targeted. Once I find out, I will be sure to update this post and please comment here with your success! This promotion runs through September 30, 2011. Thanks mommy points for this promotion!

Additionally, Hyatt has announced some new changes (some for the better some for the worse) to their current gold passport program. Overall, it involves slight enhancements to their Diamond program and category changes for 43 of their properties (25 moving up, 18 moving down).

Diamond status enhancements include:

  • Guaranteed 4pm late checkout (subject to availability at resort and casino properties)
  • Nightly room refresh
  • New amenity choices at lower end properties (in lieu of 500 points, Diamonds can choose a $5 credit in the Guest Market at Summerfield Suites or complimentary beverage at Hyatt Place)

The major update, however, is the category changes (primarily at Hyatt Place properties). The category changes listed below will take place on September 1, 2011. Make sure to make all reservations for hotels that are moving to a higher category prior to this date to redeem at the current award level.

For reservations made prior to this date that are moving to a lower category, a refund for the point difference will be given by Gold Passport Customer Service after 9/1 (in the terms and conditions it states that Hyatt will automatically deposit these points, but make sure to keep an eye on this as many times Hyatt points do not go through properly). If you are not 100% sure of when you will need your hotel stay, you are able to modify your award reservation till September 30, 2011 under the original award chart (as long as the reservation was made prior to 9/1).
