Post #9 compliments of Mr. Deals…

So as our vacation comes to an end and I sit here saddened that I have to return to the real world, I thought I’d share a bit about what it’s like going on vacation with someone so wrapped up in deals. If you have been following my posts, you know that Mrs. Deals loves a good deal, no matter where it comes from. When we are on vacation though, she does tend to loosen up a bit and is OK opening the wallet a bit more and actually paying FULL PRICE! (We call this the ‘F’ word). Crazy, I know.

This most recent trip has taken us to various cities and islands in Thailand with a quick stop in Hong Kong. Thailand isn’t exactly the most expensive place in the world, in fact, you can probably just eat for under $10 USD a day. In Hong Kong, it’s a bit more expensive but we easily had some great dim sum for around $15 total (if that). That said, we always solicit restaurant recommendations from trusted sources. Thank you to those readers that threw us some ideas! Where Mrs. Deals would typically seek a Restaurant.com deal or a Groupon type promotion, she tends to have no problem splurging on a big dinner and a fancy place in these countries.

The same holds true for our daily activities. We are very compatible travelers so luckily we both hate organized tours. Often times it’s actually cheaper to do these activities on our own and we definitely take advantage of that. Mrs. Deals loves to splurge when it comes to daily activities making the most of every experience. For example, our favorite activity from this trip was spent at the Patara elephant farm. While this was much more expensive than some others in the area, it was worth every penny having received nothing but fantastic reviews.

Alright, signing off for a 15 hour flight back home. Unfortunately I couldn’t get Mrs. Deals to splurge on business class upgrades! I’ll have to keep working on that.
