Another 75,000 Point Offer for the American Express Business Gold Rewards Card – TODAY ONLY!

UPDATE: This promotion has ended.

Currently, there is NO bonus offer with the American Express Business Gold Rewards Card, however, TODAY ONLY (Wednesday February 29th), this card comes with a 75,000 bonus point offer! This is the 2nd time I’ve seen this one day only special – the last time was in November and Mr. Deals jumped on this opportunity.

The unfortunate thing is the minimum spend to receive the bonus points is quite high at $10,000 spend within the first four months (last November they were giving people five months to meet this spend). If you are not able to meet this spend, DO NOT APPLY for this card as you will receive no bonus points and getting the card will be a waste. However, if you are a high spender, 75k points is a great offer and this is a pretty good card. The fee is waived the first year, but is then $175 which is quite high. This might be a card you get just for the bonus points and then cancel prior to the yearly fee hitting. However, even with yearly fees, I’ve still been able to make money off of Amex with various promotions offering extremely lucrative statement credits. You can see this prior post here on how I’ve been able to make this happen – in just 8 months I’ve received a total of $922.50 back in statement credits, making the annual fees well worth it!

Card Perks: This card, along with the American Express Premier Rewards Gold card (the personal version of this card). offers 3x points on all airfare purchases. That is a huge bonus opportunity. Also, this card is part of the OPEN savings program, where you will get additional discounts with the following purchases: 3% off Hyatt, 5% off Marriott (Courtyard, F airfield Inn, SpringHill Suites, Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites), 5% off FedEx, 5% off at Office Max, 5% off at 1-800-FLOWERS, and 5% off at Barnes & Nobles. You can learn more about the OPEN savings program here.

I wrote a full review on this card here, but just to re-cap:

  • $175 annual fee waived the first year
  • 3x points on airfare (up to $100,000 of eligible purchases each calendar year, and single points thereafter)
  • 2x points on purchases in the U.S. for advertising in select media, gasoline at U.S. stand-alone gas stations, and shipping (up to $100,000 of eligible purchases each calendar year, and single points thereafter)

Unfortunately, existing members of the American Express Business Gold Rewards card are not eligible. However, if you recently opened the card with no bonus offer, I highly recommend sending a secure message and calling today asking for them to bump the bonus. Explain to them that you are a loyal customer, just applied for the card with no bonus offer, and now today see a better offer out there for 75K. If you have the personal card version of this card, you ARE eligible. You can also check out a consolidated list of all credit card offers available here.

Thanks to reader Ted and Steelsnow for letting me know about this offer this morning – much appreciated!
