Double Miles and EQMs from ORD/DFW to SFO/LAX/SNA

Along with the double miles from Barcelona to Miami (which I posted about a few days ago), I also wanted to point out another double mile promotion for travel between Chicago (ORD) or Dallas (DFW) to San Francisco (SFO), Los Angeles (LAX), or Orange County (SNA). Keep in mind though that this promotion is only open to AA members with a California, Illinois, or Texas address on file. It might be a good time to make some friends with someone in those states!

While this promotion was supposed to end at the end of this month, is has been extended to June 30, 2012! With this promotion you’ll earn double miles and double elite-qualifying miles (EQMs) for round-trip travel between two included city pairs. For those that travel this route often, this will be a huge opportunity to earn/maintain elite status this year.

I actually have an upcoming trip planned to San Fran and have a layover in Chicago both ways. While I am not 100% sure if the ORD-SFO part will count for double miles/EQMs, many have reported this counting even though it was not a fully separate itinerary. I will make sure to report back with my personal experience.

Make sure to register for this promotion (offer code: DEQ11) prior to travel.

  1. A word of caution: When SNA was added later, AA used different wordings in different places leaving some doubt as to whether DFW-SNA rt would qualify for the promo. If you want to play safe, DFW-LAX/SFO, and ORD-LAX/SFO/SNA are sure bets.

The round trip must be on the same PNR. Having additional segments in same PNR has been fine. I think AA realizes that most people do not live in those five cities and would need to connect.

  2. Link is dead for me (June 20), unless June 30 is the “travel BY” date and not the “Register BY” date..

    oh well
