Discounted Car Service to/from Many Airports (NYC, Chicago, Vegas, San Fran)

This post may contain affiliate links from our advertising partners, such as American Express. Read my Advertiser Disclosure policy here.

Currently there are two deal-a-day sites promoting the discounted GroundLink airport car service – Groupon and Jetsetter. GroundLink has offered this deal before via Jetsetter and I’ve heard some positive and negative feedback:

Pros:

  • Customer service is pretty decent, cars are on time, etc.
  • The deal is a huge savings for a car service to/from the airport
  • It is cheaper than taking a taxi to/from the airport!

Cons:

  • You might not get the Jetsetter referral if you have a friend (or another email address) sign up, so be prepared for that
  • The mobile voucher does not include tip/tax and some fees, so be cautious – it might be wise to steer away from this one

Groupon Deal (thanks reader Joey for sending this my way)

  • $29 for a one-way airport transfer to or from LaGuardia (LGA) ($51 value)
  • $39 for a one-way airport transfer to or from John F. Kennedy (JFK) or Newark Liberty (EWR) ($65 value)
  • $35 for $70 worth of credits on the mobile app, available for iPhone, Android, or Blackberry. This option is valid for new GroundLink customers only.

**The Groupon/Groundlink voucher is good through August 1, 2012

Jetsetter Deal (thanks View from the Wing for bringing this deal to my attention again)

  • $29 for a one-way airport transfer to or from LaGuardia (LGA) ($51 value)
  • $39 for a one-way airport transfer to or from John F. Kennedy (JFK) or Newark Liberty (EWR) ($65 value)
  • $39 for a one-way airport transfer to or from Chicago O’Hare (ORD) or Midway (MDW) ($60 value)
  • $39 for a one-way airport transfer to or from Las Vegas Airport LAS) ($64 value)
  • $39 for a one-way airport transfer to or from San Francisco Airport (SFO) ($59 value)
  • $35 for $75 worth of credits on the mobile app, available for iPhone, Android, or Blackberry. This option is valid for new GroundLink customers only.

**The Jetsetter/Groundlink voucher is valid through July 31, 2012

As I blogged about last time this deal was offer, this is a great deal for those needing transportation to from many airports, especially JFK and Newark (as those are the ones I am most familiar with). This is actually significantly cheaper than taking a taxi! A taxi to/from Newark can run you about $80 (if not more), and a taxi to/from JFK is a flat rate of $45 plus tolls and tip. Remember though, you will still need to pay any additional tolls (if applicable) going to/from the airport.

Now, if you are new to Jetsetter, you are able to get $25 towards your first purchase by using a friends referral link. You are more than welcome to use mine (referral link here), or find a friend/family member and help them out. Each referee will also receive a $25 credit to use on a future deal upon the referrals first purchase. You can read more about signing up for a Jetsetter account in this prior blog post.

Update: Thank you to a reader for pointing out that the referee no longer gets $25 to apply to their purchase – only the referrer upon the referee making their first purchase.

  1. FWIW, the Jetsetter sale is over (their flash sales are only good for a certain number of days and it expired last night). Also, pretty sure Jetsetter’s referral program now only pays the referrer. This was necessary to minimize fraud on deals like Groundlink where the referred person paid next to nothing for their first purchase.

    • @HikerT – I am able to still see the promotion through the link I provided. It does not say it is expired. Although I did get to the purchase page, I did not attempt to enter my credit card info and purchase the deal. Thanks for reminding me about the referral program changes – that’s too bad.
