Bonus 5X American Airlines AAdvantage Miles on Online Purchases [Targeted]

If you have the Citi AAdvantage credit card you might be able to get 5x miles on your online purchases this summer. Citi has sent out a targeted email (both me and Mr. Deals have the card, but only Mr. Deals received the special invitation email) where you can get 5x miles between now and August 31, 2012. While a 5x bonus offer is awesome, there is a pretty low cap on the bonus miles – you can only earn up to 2,500 bonus miles with this promotion which means $625 of online purchases (this will then total 3,125 miles –  625 miles from the regular 1 mile per dollar spent and then the 2,500 bonus miles for the extra 4 miles per dollar spent).

While this isn’t an out of the world promotion do to the limiting amount of bonus points you can earn, Mr. Deals will absolutely be using his Citi AAdvantage credit card for his first $625 of online purchases. This includes anything purchased online, including travel reservations.

If you received this invitation make sure to enroll by June 26, 2012.  If you have not received this email and would like to take advantage, go back to your deleted emails or keep an eye out for this email over the next few days. The codes are individualized per account, so unfortunately if you did not receive the email you will not qualify for this promotion. However, it doesn’t never hurt to call the number on the back of your card and let them know you heard of this particular promotion and if you are eligible to enroll.

Also, the promotion does not start until 4 business days after you enroll, so make sure to enroll sooner than later (that is if you have been targeted).

  1. Thanks for the heads up – unfortunately I wasn’t targeted. Wish I had, looking for another 20,000 AA miles by the end of the year and that would have been a step in the right direction…

  2. weak promotion, especially the 2,500 cap. might as well just give targeted members a free 2,500 points and be done with.

  3. i got an offer yesterday for 0.25 miles bonus on every dollar for spending til 8/31/12..which i gladly accepted..don’t have tons of spending on this card which i opened last oct
