$20 Amex Statement Credit in Provincetown

As you all know, I LOVE the American Express statement credit promotions! Earlier this week I posted one on Washington, DC and now Amex came out with a new one in Provincetown (thank you Just Another Points Traveler!). This is actually FREE money for those that can make it work. Spend $20 on a single transaction and get  $20 statement credit. For those of you who are not aware, Provincetown is a cute beach community on the tip of Cape Cod.

  1. Make sure your American Express credit card is synced to your Twitter account.
  2. Tweet #AmexPtown and make sure you received the confirmation in your Twitter account
  3. Spend $20 at a single merchant on a single transaction within the 02657 zip code by August 18
  4. Receive a $20 statement credit within 3-5 days
While the terms and conditions specifically state that the offer must be in store, I actually made a purchase of $20 online yesterday that worked. I am looking forward to my new garlic twist! This was at Utilities Homestore and within seconds I received my “You Synced. You Tweeted. You Saved.” email.
Now, before you all go and make a purchase at this store, it seems like this specific store has caught on and pulled the plug yesterday afternoon. They no longer are accepting American Express as a form of payment for online orders. The funny thing is that this is actually helping their business as they are not the ones giving the $20 statement credit, it is instead Amex that is footing the bill here. This could really help a small mom and pop store make some good unexpected money! However, after reading up on this a bit, it seems as though they are concerned that the promotion doesn’t actually work and many customers will try to return their item. It also seems like they might not have the staff to even fill these orders. Oh well!
If I hear of anymore online merchants that work, I will let you know, but it seems like right now the only way to take advantage is by actually being in the Cape.

  1. El Mundo is the only eligible Provincetown restaurant that’s in IDine and it accepts Amex.

Just bought a $20 gift Certificate to be mailed to me (with recipient name left blank). The lady who processed it was very helpful and nice.

Already got my sync/tweet/save confirmation from Amex.

  2. By the way, do you think you could do an overall American Express blog post that summarizes all of the current small town promos (any any other American Express promo) that you are currently a fan of? I missed the DC one until just now! 🙂

    • @Jason – I absolutely agree! I am actually going to put a new tab on my site labeled something to the affect of “Free Money” – this will list all of the promotions.

  3. Synced 4 different Amex cards under 4 different credit card accounts. Funny how hard it is to spend $20 at one place when most stores I went into didn’t accept Amex. (Do I really need four large frozen yogurts to myself?). Ended up splitting a $45 lunch at the Lobster pot between two Amex cards, buying a $20 pair of dress socks, and another $25 at the Marc Jacobs store.

    $80 of free spend!

    • @Henry – Way to go! I personally think that the lobster restaurant was a great decision! Nothing better then New England lobster.

  4. Found the ultimate site to use my $20 (or more…) – http://www.drinkxculture.com/ has lots of great stuff. I had found that a lot of the shops either are not “promo-friendly” for multiple orders or just sold… well… things I would not be interested in… and Fudge from Provincetown does not excite me, but to each their own. Good luck all.

  5. the drinkxculture website worked for me. on 3 different cards. I get the feeling they have a small inventory so i would be quick with it. One cheap item i ordered was out of stock before i could order another one
