Just a quick note to let you all know that Southwest airlines has extended their schedule and is allowing reservations through February 13, 2013. While most airlines allow bookings 330 days out, Southwest (along with some of the other low cost carriers, AirTran, JetBlue, Frontier, etc.) opens up their reservation system in chunks typically 8 months or so out.

This is great for those that have been waiting to make their winter travel reservations, although it has unfortunately not yet been extended through Presidents Day or February vacation (for those in the Northeast). I will personally be making many mock reservations since those booked with points can be cancelled with NO fees. Points are simply redeposited back into your account within seconds of cancelling the reservation. Even if you make a reservation for someone else, points are still deposited into the account from which they came from. Even the small tax charged for using points ($2.50 per segment) will be credited back to your credit card! I also have the companion pass so can add my companion (Mr. Deals) onto these flights as well.

Happy booking!

    • @Maury – If it is using points you can request that they refund the taxes back to your credit card. If you paid for it using a credit card, the entire amount of the flight (including taxes) will be given to you in the form of a credit to use a year from the date of purchase.
