Free $10 with Starbucks

Set up your Starbucks Card (new or existing) to auto-reload for at least $25 on the Starbucks mobile app with a Visa credit card, and you’ll receive an extra $10. This promotion actually expires today, so you must complete the terms by tonight at 11:59pm PST, August 24.

How it works:

  • Get a Starbucks card – this can be an existing one or you can purchase a new one from Starbucks
  • If this is a new card, make sure to register it online
  • Download the Starbucks mobile app and add your Starbucks card
  • Set up auto-reload using a Visa card – make sure to load at least $25 (on a monthly basis your Starbucks card will load with $25, if you do not want this to continue after you get the free $10, you can stop the auto-reload)
  • Within 10 business days you will receive a $10 bonus to your Starbucks card

I personally do not visit Starbucks too often. I am actually not a coffee drinker at all, I hate the taste (yes… I am not sure how I get through my day, but somehow I do!). So I am actually not too familiar with this Starbucks Card or the auto-reload process, but it seems like a great deal for those heavy Starbucks drinkers out there. I’ve also been told that the Starbucks Card will occasionally give you other free stuff from time to time.

  1. That’s odd. I received a similar email last week, but it was only offering $5 for a re-load of at least $20 with a Visa! I wonder if these have been targeted emails.

    • If you are a frequent starbucks person then probably doesn’t hurt to do this and hope that you’ll still get the $10. Worst case you don’t get it.

  2. I got the same thing as @colinmchale

Note the difference is Reload, not AUTO-RELOAD

Get $5 when you reload your Starbucks Card on your phone with a Visa card.

That’s right: Reload your Starbucks Card, on your Visa®(R) card and Starbucks app, for at least $20, and we’ll give you an extra $5.

This deal ends August 24, 2012.

  3. Fyi…when I just did this on my iPhone, the app said the auto reload won’t occur for one day after its set….doesnt his mean that there is no Wu to get the promo if u set it up today?

  4. Actually autoreload happened once I set up this app on my iPhone (within 30 minutes) but I still did not get any additional $10. Did the previous folks get this immediately?

  5. Give them 10 days per terms and conditions before calling.

*To be eligible for the $10 offer, you must (i) be a new Auto-reload customer, (ii) sign up for Auto-reload using a valid Visa Card on your Starbucks mobile application by 11:59 p.m. PST on August 24, 2012 and (iii) complete at least one Auto-reload transaction for a minimum of $25 by 11:59 p.m. PST on September 24, 2012. Bonus load will be applied to the reloaded Starbucks Card within 10 business days of your first completed Auto-reload transaction. Only one $10 bonus load per Visa account allowed. Limited time offer.

  6. Update:This was apparently a targeted email only for certain customers. The website did not say this anywhere.

I contacted Starbucks and they first tried to say it was not a Starbucks website that hosted the promo (http://ebm.e.starbucks.com). I said no, that’s not correct, if it ends with “starbucks.com” it’s a Starbucks-hosted site, regardless what’s in front of it.

They first tried to offer me only a $5 credit (rather than the $10 offered in the promo), but I pushed back and they manually loaded $10.

If you participated (but did not get your $), make sure to call:
    (800)782-7282 Monday-Friday 5am-8pm and Saturday 7am-4pm (PST).
I emailed first and was told I needed to call.

It’s a pain, but worth it to make them honor their promo.
