$5 Free at McDonalds

This post may contain affiliate links from our advertising partners, such as American Express. Read my Advertiser Disclosure policy here.

To follow up on my Free Money 101 post from yesterday, I thought it would only make sense to inform you all of the newly added American Express sync promotion at McDonalds. You will receive a one-time $5 credit on your statement when you spend $5+ at any McDonalds store location. This free money syncing promotion expires October 31, so you have a good amount of time to get those free greasy fries that I love so much! Eat at McDonalds a lot and want to fully take advantage? If you have multiple Amex cards you should be able to create multiple Twitter accounts and sync/register one card per account.

Make sure to first sync your American Express card to Twitter and then tweet #AmexMcDs. You will receive a confirmation (similar to above) in the “Connect” tab of your Twitter account.

I’m lovin it… and free money!

    • @KK – I do not believe so. I’d suggest un-syncing your Amex card and then re-syncing the card you’d like to be synced.

  1. Do you know if we have authorized users on our amex account, could the deal be used for each authorized user? Or is it just one time regardless of number of authorized users?

    • @Golferwc – I do not have any authorized users on my cards, so I do not know from personal experience, but does each card receive a separate bill, or are they all linked? I’m looking into this for you.

    • @Golferwc – Here is the official answer from American Express’s twitter handle: “@dealswelike Hi there, they do, but each unique Card number needs to be synced to a diff Social Media acct in order to load an offer. ^Mike”

So the answer to your question is, yes!

  2. Thank you Mrs Deals! As much as you rave about the amex free money, I am surprised you aren’t doubling it by authorizing your hubby and vice versa already! I suppose at some point, it would be too chaotic to keep track of all the extra social media accounts though 🙂

    • @Golferwc – Haha! We have enough Amex cards (I have three, he has four maybe) that we do not need to add authorized users, but now you definitely got me thinking….

  3. When I complete an offer i used to immediately get an email from amex saying “you synced, you tweeted, you saved!” I have not been getting them lately. Does anyone think that is a problem or I should still get my statement credit regardless of that?

    • @ddawg – I haven’t been getting them all the time either, not sure what is going on. I do not think it should be a problem as I have had the same issue (along with many others) and am still receiving the statement credit.
