Due to the eventual merger of Southwest and AirTran, when one runs a sale the other does as well. This morning Southwest announced a 40% off sale on many flights. When looking up AirTran I noticed that they are not running a % off sale, but instead fares starting as low as $45 one-way. The sale dates for AirTran are also slightly better and goes through Presidents Day and February vacation. You must purchase by October 11 at 11:59pm PST for flights November 28-December 18, 2012 and January 4-March 1, 2013. This can be a great sale for some, but there are some exclusions, which include:
- Travel to or from New Orleans is not available from January 31 – February, 14 2013.
- Travel to or from Las Vegas is not available from January 31 – February 5, 2013.
- Travel to or from Reagan National (DCA) and Baltimore-Washington (BWI) is not available from January 17 – 23, 2013.
- Service to Phoenix, AZ will no longer be available after January 4, 2013.
Since there are so many sales right now and many airlines seem to be matching, make sure to check them all to get the best price. Also remember with AirTran, if the flight price goes down you can get a credit for the difference. You will need to call AirTran to have them credit you with this voucher.
