Jetsetter $75 Promo Going Sour?

This post may contain affiliate links from our advertising partners. Read my Advertiser Disclosure policy here. Additionally, some of the offers on this page may no longer be available through Deals We Like.

A few days ago I posted a great deal how you can get $75 off a Jetsetter hotel reservation. While I did not partake in the promotion as I just had no usage, it was a great opportunity to get $75 off even a one night stay – some reservations as low as $4.

It now seems like Jetsetter is going against some of the hotel reservations made and are doing two things: 1) canceling reservations, and 2) charging the full amount and not discounting. If you made a reservation using this discount code I wanted to make sure you all double check your reservation and make sure you were not overcharged.

I think it is personally ridiculous how Jetsetter can just cancel and change reservations after a promotion that they advertised. I received the $75 off email, and no where in the terms does it state that you must have received the email, a minimum night stay requirement, or a minimum amount paid. Now it does state that it is a one time code per account and they can pull the code at anytime (which they did a mid day 10/18). Aside from that, reservations should not be canceled and as long as the $75 code went through at check out, the discount should apply. Here are the exact terms of the deal:

“Receive $75 off your next purchase (the “Discount”), valid on jetsetter.com and jetsetter.co.uk , only, excluding taxes, service fees, or any additional fees applied directly by a hotel or resort. Discount must be used in a single transaction and may be subject to certain trip exclusions. This discount cannot be combined with other offers and may not be used toward the purchase of e-Gift Cards. Discount will not be applied if used via mobile application or mobile browser. Non-transferable; may not be used by anyone other than the recipient of the offer. Limit one Discount per member. Promotion code must be entered at time of checkout. Discount will be valid through 10/18/2012 at 11:59 PM ET. Discount has no cash or credit value. Offer may be suspended or terminated at any time.”

If you jumped on this deal, has your reservation been affected? Please share your experience to help other readers who might be in the same boat. Many people have already boycotted Jetsetter due to the Groundlink deal extravaganza and I am assuming if Jetsetter does not make this $75 off promotion right, they will lose many more customers. It is really giving Jetsetter a bad name. My hope is they make this right, but no guarantee.

People need to start utilizing small claims court against shit like this so companies think twice before screwing everyone.

Wow… strike 2 for JetSetter. I definitely won’t be giving them a chance at strike 3.

Jet setter is up for sale. Not many takers. I believe I read on wsj early this week that asking price was cut in half to 50 million. They shouldn’t want this bad publicity.i thought promo was to get revenue up for the sale. A common ploy for Internet companies on the block.

As @Ken noted, the Gilt Groupe is trying to unload Jetsetter but no takers. The business model is considered to be “unprofitable” by analysts.

Wouldn’t “may not be used by anyone other than the recipient of the offer” be effectively saying that you must have received the e-mail? I mean, copying the coupon code from a blogger that posted it is not the same as being the “recipient of the offer”.

Shame on Jetsetter, though, for not linking the code to only the accounts that they intended to use it. The technology exists to do that, we’ve seen it before.

Is Jetsetter a division of Cartera? Sounds like they follow the same business model. 🙁

They cancelled my reservation yesterday saying mine does not meet the requirement of T&C. (How come?)
I have not seen their refund to my credit card yet.

@Rayn – Did they give any additional detail, or what portion of the T&C?

Just an update for anyone who cares. Jetsetter honored my reservation. It took a couple of emails asking them to check on my reservation but they did not attempt to cancel it.
