Another blog post from Mr. Deals

Wow, I’ve been bad. Mrs. Deals has been quite unhappy with my blog performance lately. A couple weeks back I wrote a post that she didn’t like and she deprived my loyal readers of a story that most likely had no point. I’m sorry everyone but I am back. I’m working on finding new things related to Mrs. Deals crazy antics that I can surface for everyone’s enjoyment. In the meantime, here’s a quick little random story that just happened…

So every year I head west for a guys trip to the mountains. Lately Utah has been the go to based on convenience and price. In all honesty, the snow is so damn good it’s hard to complain (except for the lack of alcohol in the beers). The past couple of years we have met up with a friend of a friend who has been doing the ski bum thing in Utah for about 8 or so winters. Just yesterday we were riding the lift up together and I found out he was a blog reader.

We had gotten to talking about travel. He had just gotten home from Peru and I was asking him about the trip. Turns out he works for Delta as a bag handler at SLC (like my use of the airport code?) and is able to hop on standby flights whenever he has the time off. It’s been keeping him busy traveling and seeing the world as much as possible. As a result he’s gotten obsessed with travel deals.

I mentioned to him that my wife was Mrs. Deals and he instantly knew who I was talking about. I then surfaced that I was Mr. Deals and he told me he liked my writing much better than Mrs. Deals (I’m just kidding honey). But, he was an active reader and was familiar with many of the boarding area travel blogs. Frugal Travel Guy, he likes your stuff.

Small world out there. That said if you are riding the lifts with a random snowboarder from NYC over the next couple days, make small talk, it could happen to be Mr. Deals…

Oh and next week I will tell you about where we stayed, because if you don’t want to throw down for slope side, I may have a place for you.
