Club Carlson $500 Gift Card + Gold Elite Status Giveaway!

A few months ago Club Carlson announced a brand-specific credit card which will allow you to earn points towards future free Club Carlson hotel stays (Radisson, Radisson Blu, Country Inn & Suites, Park Plaza, Park Inn). I was really excited about this announcement (and still am!) as they are offering an awesome sign up bonus (up to 85,000 bonus points depending on the card you apply for) and amazing perks just by having the card.

I actually applied for this card myself two months ago primarily due to the last night free on ANY AWARD benefit – this is a HUGE perk in my opinion! I’ll explain more about the perks and the benefits below, but there are actually four versions of this card having different annual fees, bonus points, and perks. I personally applied for the Club Carlson Business Rewards Visa since the bonus points and perks were exactly the same as the personal version of the card, but the annual fee is $60 instead of $75. While the annual fee is not waived the first year unlike many other points and miles earning credit cards, the fee-based cards (three of them) will give you between 25,000 and 40,000 points upon your account renewal which makes up for the fee (if not more!) – there is also a no-fee card, but you won’t receive any bous points upon account renewal.

To celebrate the launch of this new credit card, Club Carlson reached out offering to give away two (2) prizes of one (1) full year of Club Carlson Gold status and a $500 Club Carlson Visa gift card. This prize will be given away to two (2) Deals We Like Readers!!! If the person who wins already happens to have Club Carlson Gold Status, he/she will be upgraded to Concierge status for one full year. Also, in order to accept the full year of Club Carlson Gold Status and a $500 Club Carlson Visa gift card, you MUST be a Club Carlson member – if you are not currently a member, you can sign up here.  This giveaway will end at 11:59pm PST Friday March 29th – the winner will then be selected AT RANDOM within 24 hours.

To enter the contest you must a) follow Deals We Like on Facebook or Twitter and b) comment on this post answering the question “What is your favorite feature/benefit of the Premier Rewards Visa Signature Card?”

To learn more about the four different cards and the benefits/perks you can take a look at this prior post (I’ve also included an analysis on which card you should get if interested). However, I’m going to recap  the Premier Rewards Visa Signature Card for you since it is probably the most popular (keep in mind that the perks for the business version of this card are very similar).

  • Bonus Award Nights – when Gold Points® are redeemed for two or more consecutive award nights, the last night is free – exclusively for cardmembers!
  • 10 points per dollar on eligible purchases at participating Carlson Rezidor hotels worldwide and five points per dollar everywhere else Visa is accepted
  • Up to 85,000 Bonus Gold Points to start. Receive 50,000 Gold Points after your first purchase, plus 35,000 points after you spend $2,500 on your card within the first 90 days
  • 40,000 bonus points each year after you renew your card and pay the low annual fee
  • Automatic Gold Elite Status once the card is used. Existing Gold Elite members receive 15 qualifying nights toward Concierge Elite Status
As mentioned, my favorite benefit of the credit card is the last night on award stays, especially since this can be used for a two night stay! This benefit is available on all four of the Club Carlson branded credit cards. Ive accured well over 200,000 Club Carlson points over the past two years due to their many 50,000 point promos and the 85,000 bonus points I receive upon meeting my minimum spend on the card. While I do not stay at Club Carlson hotels too often, I am thoroughly looking forward to using those points in Europe most likely. Since the standard room rate at their top tier hotel is 50,000 points, if I use my points for two night stays I’ll be looking at at least 8 free nights! Also, the 40,000 annual bonus points will give me about 2 more free nights (again, assuming a 2-night stay). So make sure to comment below with your favorite benefit to enter the contest!!!

  1. The free redemption night with one booked night is my favorite feature. It’s like 2 for 1. The happy hour of hotel deals!

  2. Definitely the free night award. Too bad that this card is available only for American residents and not for Europeans. We have tons of less possibilities than u guys 🙂

  3. 2,000 points for an online booking as a Gold is a nice extra. But, who am I kidding? We all love the free redention nights. They are the bomb!

  4. Bonus Award Nights. Can’t beat such an awesome benefit nor can I think of any other hotel chain reward that is as cool as this!

  5. The 5x per dollar is the most UNDER-rated benefit. In conjunction with the Bonus Award Night feature & 40k anniversary bonus, make this the best hotel card on the market!

  6. LOVE the bonus award nights! Used them at the gorgeous Radisson St. Martin a few weeks ago, and had an incredible time. Thanks!

  7. Hands down, the bonus night award is the best value for me. I used it for the first time earlier this month at the Park Inn in Vancouver, BC.

  8. It is hard to say which is my favorite because there are a number of tremendous features, but I think I’ll go with the free night on award bookings.

  9. I like the 40,000 bonus points each year combined with the bonus award night free. It definitely makes the card worth the annual fee.

  10. My favorite is the Gold Status. I don’t travel enough to maintain much status and this makes it worth it for me to stay at Club Carlson properties.

  11. I almost always choose a card based on the initial bonus miles or points, but the feature of the “last night free” is by far the best feature of this card.

  12. The free award night is an incredible benefit…there are so many great features of this card, they make up for the annual fee many times over. This one’s staying in my wallet!

  13. The free 2nd night for award bookings makes this card uniquely valuable, especially in places like Europe where hotels can become quite expensive. It is truly a game changer in terms of hotel redemption benefits!

  14. My favorite feature of the Premier Rewards Visa Signature card is the bonus awards night feature. Have already booked it twice.

  15. The bonus award night is great! I know ….. I’ve already used it in Bangkok. I got a great room, location and treatment. Love Club Carlson!

  16. The 40k annual bonus is my favorite perk of this card. I’d love to use those points toward a free night or two at the Radisson Blu 1919 in Reykjavik, Iceland!

  17. Has to be the bonus award night. I’m more of a weekend warrior, so to get that second night free on a two night stay…wow! Great deal.

  18. earning >40x (20x regular, 10x gold bonus, 10x cc spend, 2k online bonus) is hard to beat for stays paid by someone else

  19. Another 10x points per dollar is awesome. With my GOLD status that means I will be getting a total of 40x points per dollar.

  20. Bonus Award Nights – when Gold Points® are redeemed for two or more consecutive award nights, the last night is free – exclusively for cardmembers!

  21. Denifitly the “Bonus Award Nights” – when Gold Points® are redeemed for two or more consecutive award nights, the last night is free.

  22. The anniversary bonus, 2 for 1 awards, gold status and 5x on all spend. I’d be happy with any one of those benefits. I’m not using any other credit card right now. Thanks Club Carlson.

  23. The bonus night award is my favorite perk and I’m looking foward to use it on our next vacation at Radisson in Aruba.

  24. The 5 points per dollar on everyday spend (along with the bonus free night on awards) means that you get TWO free nights at any of Club Carlson’s top tier hotels for every $10,000 you spend on the card. For most other hotel branded credit cards, you have to spend at least twice that to get just ONE free night at any of their top tier properties.

  25. My favorite is the Bonus Award Nights – when Gold Points® are redeemed for two or more consecutive award nights, the last night is free – exclusively for cardmembers!

  26. Hands down, the favorite perk for me is the last night free award. I have over 500,000 points accumulated with Club Carlson (much of them due in thanks to the great promotions this blog has brought to my attention). So this could potentially double their value.

  27. The bonus award night is my favorite feature. Club Carlson is a very generous program overall. I am a new member and loving it.

  28. My favorite feature/benefit of the Premier Rewards Visa Signature Card is the Bonus Award nights. Such an amazing benefit.

  29. There are actually many things to love about these cards. But the Bonus Awards Night for as little as a two night stay is hard to beat. Club Carlson and US Bank have really stepped up to the plate in a year where many other hotels have devalued their programs tremendously. I was a Hilton guy previously but now with these new cards (just got the Premiere Rewards Visa card a few weeks ago) I will be looking at Club Carlson properties more and more from here on.

  30. Personally I wind up staying several nights at a time, so while the free final night night on award stays is *very* nice it’s the 40k annual bonus that has my attention.

  31. My favorite feature/benefit of the Premier Rewards Visa Signature Card is the free beer !!! Wait, that’s wrong, its the free night. 🙁

  32. Aside from the bonus award night, I think the low cost ability to explore the Radisson Blus of the world is my favorite benefit of the card.

  33. I actually like the 40,000-point annual bonus because it’s rare that a credit card gives you a bonus that’s worth the annual fee!

  34. Tough call between the bonus award night feature and the 40,000 annual renewal points. Going to have to go with the bonus award nights, though.

  35. The bonus nights are AMAZING but don’t discount the initial sign-up points. The 50,000 points are enough for top-end Euro hotels. I used the 50,000 from their “Big Night Giveaway” last year at the Radisson Blu Style in Vienna for a room that would have cost me 350 euro!

  36. My favorite feature is the 40,000 bonus points each year after you renew your card and pay the low annual fee. This card is definitely a keeper.

  37. The greatest feature in my opinion is the hundreds of hotels they have in SO MANY PARTS of the world. They cover good ground!

  38. the last night free is the outstanding feature that makes all the other features worth more. under this, the points worth more, thus the earning rate is lifted quite higher too.

  39. i’ve accumulated almost 50k and i will not use it until i get the credit card
    ^-^
and if carlson hotels are located everywhere like marriott, it will become unbeaten!

  40. Definitely the last free night on points reservations. That will really stretch my stash of points for my next trip to Europe!

  41. I love the fact that Carlson is trying so hard to reward us, when most of the other chains are doing the opposite. this in and of itself deserves Kudos. I also like the bonus night. a good perk – provided I’m staying in any one city long enough to enjoy it!

  42. I could not just choose one, so I will make it a combo, the 85k points + 5 pts for $1 spend + bonus award night is a great trifecta and the annual bonus points makes it easier to keep the card for a long time

  43. My favorite benefit is the free award night. We will use it for our stay in Aruba this summer. Can’t wait…

  44. Club Carlson Visa’s the best,
It makes you forget the rest!
    With 85K
    To start the day
Your life will surely be blessed!

  45. I like the idea of the 40k annual bonus with the notion that may increase in an attempt to retain a customer hoping to cancel their card!

  46. The 5/10 points per dollar spent is the reason to actually use this card over others in your wallet. That’s my favorite feature of the card!

  47. I love the Gold status (2 for 1 in Africa, Europe, and Middle East and bonus points for booking online) and the award booking free night. They’ve done a nice job with their credit card offer.

  48. For sure it’s the bonus award nights. Nothing like getting a little back when redeeming! It’s like getting free on top of free!

  49. Of course the 2nd night free award redemption.

But I also love the base earning of 5x. 10k base spend = 50k points = 2 nights at top CC hotel! No other card will give that much value with 10k based spend in my opinion.

  50. I absolutely love the free last free night on an award stay! I also typically have two night stays, and for hotel hoping this works great!

  51. What a GREAT giveaway! I think my favorite feature/benefit is that you get Up to 85,000 Bonus Gold Points to start. Receive 50,000 Gold Points after your first purchase, plus 35,000 points after you spend $2,500 on your card within the first 90 days! I follow u on Facebook. Thanks for a great giveaway!

  52. Well, the feature I like LEAST is that it’s issued by USBank, which turned me down for “too many recent inquiries” even though my last churn was more than four months prior. If they’d give me a card, I’d really love the 2-4-1 bonus!

  53. I love the bonus night award… really enjoy that for vacations with my kids… also, they have very good properties… nice to stay with family.

  54. I like many things.,,
    BOnus night, of course,,
    40,000 points on annual renewal..
…and I like the 15 points for upgrade award status if one is already gold elite.concierge gong for concierge..
