One Week Left for 35% Bonus for Amex to British Airways Avios Transfers

Next Friday, June 7, 2013 is the last day to transfer your American Express Membership Reward points to British Airways Avios with a 35% bonus. In the past 12 months, a transfer bonus offer has been quite common. I personally transferred about half of my Amex point balance a year ago with the 50% transfer bonus, but unfortunately we haven’t seen the 50% bonus since then – it has been anywhere between 30-40%. There haven’t been too many transfer promotions with American Express Membership Rewards, so this is one of the better offers on the table. It has been close to two years now since we’ve seen a Delta transfer bonus and all of the other bonuses are no where as lucrative. I really really hope this British Airways promotion becomes a tradition with the American Express program. While There really is no way of knowing if a better transfer bonus will ever come back, so make the right decision based on your current needs and don’t get too greedy. With any other bonus opportunities, it is always like playing the lottery.

I personally like that my American Express Membership Reward points have the flexibility to be used for many programs, so I will not be transferring anymore points from my account since I already have a ton of BA Avios points.

If you are not as aware of the British Airways Avios points, make sure to read these prior posts. It really can be a great program for many!

She just had a baby this week – babies and sleep deprivation make the mind do crazy things. It is 6/7, but at least with this post you wouldn’t accidentally miss the deadline. 😉

If the last day in 6/7 you need to change your edited post from 6/8 to 6/7!

My wife and I currently have around 700,000 AMEX rewards points. Would you suggest a transfer when we have no redemption in mind and have never used avios points or their program before? Some of the redemption ideas look very compelling. Our reward travel is a mixed bag of domestic and international.
Thanks
