For Hotels.com reservations booked by September 1, 2013 you can get 12% off your hotels.com reservation – with the major caveat being that it has to be a $300+ reservation. The coupon code for this promotion is 12FOR12 and is valid for reservations through November 21, 2013. This coupon is valid only for new hotel bookings, but if you have a reservation booked that you are able to cancel, feel free to cancel and re-book (just make sure your original reservation isn’t passed the cancellation date and the price hasn’t increased).

The coupon excludes:

  • Package bookings
  • Bookings made through a group travel service
  • Bookings paid for at a hotel
  • Bookings paid for in a foreign currently
  • Bookings at non-participating hotels (you can check out excluded hotels here – mostly chain hotels)

If you have to make a hotels.com reservation that is less than $300, there is another promotion code that will give you 9% off your reservation with no minimum dollar amount needed. You can read more about this promotion here.

Additionally, reservations using this coupon is NOT eligible for their Welcome Rewards program. Keep this in mind when making your reservation. However, last year I booked a few hotels through Hotels.com with a coupon code and still got nights towards my Welcome Rewards account, so there is always the chance they will still count.

Remember, you can also book through a cash back portals for extra savings. For example, Topcashback.com will give you 10% back, Bigcrumbs.com will give you 4.5% cash back, and Chase Ultimate Rewards will give you 4 points per dollar spent.
