Go Anywhere in Manhattan for $12! Or LaGuardia Airport for $25!

The company GoGreenRide is an environmentally friendly car service in NYC. While I do not know too too much about the service, it appears to be slighly different than Uber as you can book on-demand or for a later time. You can also book via their smartphone app or their website (with Uber it is just an on-demand service and has to be booked through your phone). The entire fleet of GoGreenRide cars is Prius hybrids and each car comes with an iPad and charging station for your electronics. They also carry iPhone 5, iPhone 4/4S and Android/Blackberry chargers, which is pretty cool. To top it off they will give you a Voss bottle of water on some rides depending on your status with their loyalty program.

This is also a cashless ride (like Uber) where your credit card information is stored in your online profile and you are automatically billed. The site states “We’re less expensive than most black car services and on par with a yellow cab.”

So here is the deal:

The deal-a-day website Gilt City is offering two different deals:

  • $12 for a one-way ride in Manhattan (South Ferry to 96th street)
  • $25 for a one-way ride to LaGuardia Airport from any location in Manhattan (between South Ferry and 96th Street)

Gratuity and any tolls you encounter are not included, but this is a GREAT deal! To get from the Upper East Side to Tribeca, for example, will cost you probably $30 (at least!). In an Uber could run you around $45ish. Even if your ride breaks even at $12 this is a great way to try out this service. And to get to LGA for $25 is really good too. That is the minimum it will cost you regardless of where you are coming from.

This voucher must be redeemed by April 1, 2014, so you have a long time! This is also available for new users only, so you can only purchase 1 per account.

I’ve never personally tried this service so cannot vouch for availability and what not, but the fact that you can make an advance reservation is great. Has anyone ever used this service, any feedback?
