About a month ago I wrote about Amtrak’s Fall promotion where you’d receive double points on all train rides September 9th through October 31st. For those that take Amtrak often, I have good news for you – Amtrak has decided to extend their promotion until November 22nd! You must register for this promotion. The terms do not state whether registration must be done by travel date or not, but I’d suggest just doing it now.
This is for all train travel, no exclusions, and all class of service. Typically you earn 2 points per $1 spent on Amtrak travel, so with this promotion you’ll earn 4 points per $1. There is also a 100 point minimum you’ll earn each trip (one-way) regardless of the price.
For Acela Business class trips you’ll earn a flat 500 points, so with this promotion you’ll earn 1,000 points. If you elect first class instead of the normal 750 points, you’ll earn 1,500 points.
