Discounted Car Rental Rates with Hertz and Enterprise

Both Hertz and Entperise run pretty good weekend only rates a few times a year. Typically the promotion rate starts in the Fall and runs until the following calendar year. I personally have been able to take advantage of these rates multiple times and rent a car for the weekend for super cheap.

Hertz $14.99 weekend rates

  • For participating airport and non-airport locations in the U.S. (not including NY Metro, Hyannis, Nantucket, and Martha’s Vineyard, and HI) you can get a car rental for $14.99 per day (for Economy and Compact cars)
  • Valid for pick up Thursday 12:00pm through Sunday at 11;59pm
  • Must return the car by Monday 12:00pm
  • If you pick up the car Thursday or Friday, cannot return till Saturday
  • Not valid for one-ways
  • Unlimited miles
  • Valid through January 31, 2014
  • Check rates and make reservations here (use RQ code: VSTPTE)

While this is a great rate, it is only valid for pre-paid reservations (which is different than it used to be). If you want to book a car with the opportunity to cancel, you will be paying $19.99/day, which is not nearly as good.

Enterprise $9.99 weekend rates

  • For participating non-airport locations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico you can get a car rental for $9.99 per day (for Economy and Compact cars; other size cars are slightly higher).
  • Valid for Friday through Monday rentals
  • 100 miles per day is included
  • They will even pick you up and drop you off (talk to them in advance to see their driving distance)
  • Valid through May 21, 2014
  • Check rates and make reservations here

While Enterprise offers cheaper rates, it is only valid for non-airport locations. If you are flying in and would like to rent off airport, see if there is a Enterprise close by and it is sometimes cheaper to take a taxi to/from their location. Additionally, if there is a hotel near by and you are able to hop on their hotel shuttle the off-airport Entperise location will pick you up there. The big disadvatage to this is that you must be picking up and dropping off the car during open hours, where as the airport location is typically open 24/7.

Valid at participating neighborhood locations within the U.S. and Puerto Rico only for rentals reserved in advance. Rental must end on or before May 21, 2014. Offer rate of $9.99 per day applies to an Economy or Compact car rented on Friday and ending the following Monday, and includes 100 miles per day. For certain locations, rates of less than $9.99 per day may be available. To see if a lower rate is available, go to the main reservation path on the enterprise.com home page, or contact the location in question directly, before visiting your local branch or making your booking. It is the renter’s responsibility to check for a lower rate. Enterprise reserves the right to terminate the offer or change the terms at any time. Sorry, this offer is not valid at airport locations and availability is limited. Rates are as posted at time of reservation at enterprise.com. Offer cannot be combined with other coupons, offers or discounted rates. Standard rental qualifications apply. Offer rate does not include 23% or lower tax and/or additional surcharges, $0.20 or less per mile for excess miles, vehicle licensing fees of $4 or less per day, refueling fees, additional driver fees and optional damage waiver of $29.99 or less per day, which are the responsibility of the renter. In the USA, check your insurance policy and/or credit card agreement for rental vehicle coverage. Other restrictions, including holiday and blackout dates, may apply. Pick-up and drop-off service is subject to geographic and other restrictions. Void where prohibited.

With car rental costs on the rise (or maybe it is just me) I wanted to point out two excellent deals:

Enterprise $9.99 weekend rates

  • Valid for Friday through Monday rentals
  • 100 miles per day is included
  • They will even pick you up and drop you off (talk to them in advance to see their driving distance)
  • Valid through May 22, 2013
