This is a reminder that this promotion ends this Sunday. Has anyone yet used the split fare feature? It is super easy!

I received an email from Uber letting me know of a great promotion for NYC Uber-users. If you were not aware, back in June Uber put in place the option to split the cost of your fare with a friend as long as you both had the app. No more worrying about having cash on you or paying your friend back.

Through Sunday November 10 at 11:59pm, if you use the Fare Split option in NYC, both you and your friend will get an extra $10 of Uber credits into both your and your friends account. Now, the best part of this promotion is that you can earn an UNLIMITED number of credits. So let’s say you and your friend take an Uber that costs $20 total, use the fare split option thus paying $10 each, you will both then get $10 back into your Uber account – that means the trip was free!! You can also Fare Split with as many friends as you want.

To split a fare, you…

  1. Request a ride
  2. Tap the “up arrow” icon next to your driver’s info
  3. Select “Split Fare”
  4. Choose your friends
  5. Tap “Send”

Your friend(s)…

  1. Tap the link in the text message from Uber
  2. Your friends who don’t have an Uber account will be prompted to download the app and sign up
  3. Your Uber-savvy friends will be taken directly to the Uber app
  4. Your friends will confirm they want to split your fare

New to Uber? New Uber users can get $10 in free credits by signing up with a referral link. The referrer will also get a $10 credit once the referee completes their first ride.

Enjoy your free NYC transportation! Send me an email if you have any questions about this promotion.

I have downloaded the app but have yet to use it. I am going to be in NY next weekend with 3 girlfriends. Would it be unreasonable to try to use a car service from the airport to a hotel in Times Square? It would have to be a pretty large car for us with luggage. Also, curious how expensive that would be. We were told by the hotel that a cab would probably be about $65. I haven’t been to new york in a while (a couple of years) so I have no idea.

Code I found today gives $20 off first ride:
TheSalon2013

The code references the Art + Design Fair this weekend, Nov 15-18, in NYC.
