50,000 Point Offer for American Express Premier Rewards Gold Card (Targeted Offer)

There have been some reports of folks being targeted for a better offer for the American Express Premier Rewards Gold Card using the “Card Match” on the creditcards.com website. Essentially, this site enables you to enter your personal information and based on your profile you will be presented with various offers. While there is no guarantee on the offers you will be presented with, there is a possibility you could receive the 50,000 point offer after spending $1,000 in the first three months.

If you are interested in this card this is a great offer as the ongoing offer is 25,000 points after spending $2,000 within the first three months. So essentially, if targeted, you’ll get double the sign on bonus for half the amount of spend required.

Credit Card Perks:

  • Earn 15,000 points after you spend $30,000 on the card within one calendar year
  • Earn 3X points for flights booked with airlines
  • Earn 2X points at US gas stations and US supermarkets
  • Earn 1X points on other purchases
  • $0 introductory annual fee for the first year, then $175

Unfortunately, I was not targeted for this offer as I actually would have applied if I was. This is a card I do not currently have and I’ve been thinking about closing my Amex Platinum card so this would keep a Amex Membership Rewards card in my wallet. I personally love that I can transfer my Amex Membership Reward points to British Airways Avios points, especially since they typically run transfer bonuses.

You can check out this prior post to learn more about the card.

This offer was seen on 11/26 by many blog readers, although I did not see the offer myself as I was not targeted. If you are matched for the card one day, that does not necessarily mean you will be matched for the same card and offer another day.

I wasn’t targeted by CardMatch either (I have both the PRG and Plat already from January’s 50k/100k CardMatch deal) but I’m curious whether the targeted offer comes with the usual exclusion about the bonus for the PRG being: “not available to applicants who have had this product within the last 12 months or any other Consumer ZYNC®, Green or Gold Card or Platinum Card® account within the last 90 days.”

I’m thinking that even if CardMatch pops up, you may not be eligible because you have the Platinum but I’d be interested in hearing whether that’s actually the case with the CardMatch offers.
