American Express just came back with their refer a friend program where you can get a bonus 5,000 points for referring your friend to a specific card offer. This is a great promotion, although it only gives the referrer the bonus and not the referee.
Another caveat to this promotion is not everyone is able to refer every card. Out of my accounts I am only able to refer the Starwood American Express card. For the SPG card specifically, you can earn 5,000 bonus points for a referring a friend up to 55,000 Starpoints per calendar year. The offer is exactly the same as if you were to apply elsewhere so you might as well find a friend and help them out! If you have the same address on file, you are actually able to transfer Starpoints from one account to another, so you might be able to split the bonus with them!
To see what cards you are eligible to refer to a friend, go to this site and sign into your American Express account. Your eligible cards will appear.
