REMINDER: Few Days Left to Earn Free Hilton Gold Status with Amex Platinum Card

This post may contain affiliate links from our advertising partners. Read my Advertiser Disclosure policy here. Additionally, some of the offers on this page may no longer be available through Deals We Like.

This is a reminder that you only have a few days left to jump on this promotion. If you are an American Express Platinum credit card holder you have until December 31, 2013 to call the Amex Platinum line and have them enroll you as a Gold member at Hilton hotels. Your status will be good for all of 2014!

American Express Platinum Credit Card Holders are eligible to request free Hilton Gold Status through December 31, 2013. This is for both personal and business cardmembers, but you must call Amex to request this status, it will not automatically apply to your account.

You will then have status for 2014, however, Hilton Gold status does not reset until March of the following year, so this will probably be available for you until March 2015.

While I absolutely would not get the Amex Platinum card for this benefit alone, if you are already a card member it is a great perk. While Hilton Gold status is their mid-tier status, it is actually a great status to have. You get access to free breakfast and many times you’ll even get lounge access. You will also get free internet during your stay.

Thanks to The Points Guy for sharing this promotion.

Does this hold true for the Delta Platinum?

@brian – this is for those with the amex platinum card – not a co-branded airline card.

Just one additional bit of info, the number to call to get the upgrade is 800-528-4800. If you call the number on the back of the card, they transfer you to this department. So you can save a few minutes by calling this number directly.

I just called AMEX and they said they don’t have that benefit. They do with SPG but not HH.

Thanks David for the number.

Mr. G., if you have your HH number ready it should be 48 hrs. The reason they said 7-10 days for people calling in and not having their HH number ready.

I’ve been calling Amex and Hilton and neither know about this program.

@seth – call the Amex number on the back of your card and keep on calling until you get someone who knows what they are doing. You must have the American Express platinum card (the one that comes with a $450 annual fee). Hilton will not be able to help you.

Signed up today…easy, be sure to have your Hilton Honors # ready when you call. Takes 7 – 10 days The # provided above by DY actually is a main # and I was transferred to Platinum card services.

Thanks for the heads up, this has been on my to do list for 2 months now. The agent knew the promo and even offered to upgrade my SPG to Gold as well, but I had done that before. All set, I have a HH# and she said 7-10 days anyway.
