Marriott’s Winter MegaBonus promotion was just announced and will run from February 1 through April 30, 2014. This is the exact same promotion that they run about 3 times a year for the past many many many years. With all MegaBonus promotions, each individual is targeted for a different promotion depending on their stay pattern. In the past, members were able to call Marriott and get moved to another promotion. Sometimes folks are able to get their offered changed, so if you would prefer a different offer call Marriott and inquire about another offer.

You’ll need to sign into your account and see which promotion you received, but they include the following:

  • 2 stays = 1 free night for a category 1-4 hotel (expires 1 year from the date issued) – limit of two free night certificates earned during the promotion
  • 20 nights = 35,000 points; 25 nights earns additional 10,000 for a total of 45,000 points
  • 20 nights = 35,000 points; each additional night earns 2,000 points per night, up to 10 nights for a total of 55,000 points
  • 15 nights = 25,000 points; 20 nights earns additional 10,000 for a total of 35,000 points
  • 15 nights = 25,000 points; each additional night earns 2,000 points per night, up to 10 nights for a total of 45,000 points

Registration is required by March 31, 2014. If it takes you to “Session Timed Out” page, make sure to sign into your Marriott account and re-click on the registration link.

I personally was targeted for the stay twice, earn a category 1-4 certificate. Last time during the Megabonus promotion I received the category 1-5 free night certificate, which is MUCH better. With many hotels moving up a category this past year, a category 1-4 hotel will not get you far.

my family members and relatives, total 8 marriott accounts, are offered different rewards — 4 accounts for cat 1-5 certs and 4 for cat 1-4 certs. we plan to stay under the 4 cat 1-5 accounts only. i can’t figure out what rules marriott use to assign cat 4 or cat 5?

marriott always has a gap between 2 quarterly promotions. this time, jan 16 – jan 31. it forced me to stay away from marriott during this period. i plan to choose hyatt (due to its endless possiblities promotion) or consider starwood because its promotion is mediocre. any advice on better hotel promotion than marriott?

Andy, I hate the gaps. It seems I always lose out on a couple of stays in the gap during May, and often lose one or two stays between the summer and fall promos. For whatever reason, my most frequent travel dates and the two to four week gaps are often overlapping.

I was offered: Earn a free night at a category 1-5 hotel after the second paid stay, up to two free nights

I wonder if status may be the difference between being offered category 1-5 certificates, or category 1-4 certificates? I’m gold status and was offered 1-5.

I was targeted for this promo as well and was initially excited until i saw that it was for category 1-4 certificates. The promo ending now (Jan 15) is cat 1-5 and, like you said, MUCH better. I would be curious why someone was targeted for cat 1-5 on this upcoming promotion. Greg said he was targeted at 1-5 as a Gold but I am Gold as well and was just offered 1-4.
