Had a fantastic meal at Aubergine…I think it was $65 per person including a great wine pairing. Very memorable meal.

Public transit can get you from the airport to downtown, but it’s not useful for getting to some of the harder to reach tourist sites (e.g., Kirstenbosch, Table Mountain cable car, etc.). We never usually use those hop-on, hop-off tour bus services, but we did in Cape Town because it would get us to a lot of points of interest for one flat fee.

Going up Table Mountain was much cooler than I thought it would be – it’s very pretty and has spectacular views. We also rented a car to go to Stellenbosch/Franschoek and also down to Hermanus to go whale watching (latter might be out of season now). Within the city, I found the Bo-Kaap neighborhood really fascinating and beautiful to walk through.

Hiya,
Cape Town is one of my favorite places.
Statistically..it’s dangerous. However they have guards at every corner and I had no issue walking around. I stayed both near the waterfront and BoKapp (muslim district).
Aside from wine, do you like Beer?
Brewers and Union, Beerhouse, Wembley Tap, Mitchell’s, and Jack Black all have craft beer.
Coffee…the best coffee shop (aesthetically) I have ever been to in the WORLD is in Cape Town.
The entire place is set up like a retro steam punk bar. The place is called TRUTH Coffee, there are two. You want to go to the one in Downtown not by the park.

Food…
Food trucks are good and so are the up scale places. Plenty of great places to eat. Off the top of my head, Fork, Richards, Little Ethiopia, Mezzan? It was in the Hilton in Bo-Kapp, they serve North Indian food, Millers thumb, also there are a few places that specialize in game meat. Their names escape me but it was delicious.

Stay,
Hilton is the standard 40k a night. Although if you are Gold/have an amex that is significantly reduced via axon/glon. The Hilton has fantastic views of table mountain and is located in Bo-Kapp. Also an executive lounge with hot breakfast in the mornings and drinks in the afternoon. There are also many small bed and breakfast’s which are cute and the cost is reasonable.
Hyatt, Westin etc is by the waterfront.

This is getting long!
There is plenty to see. I would recommend a driver or tour to take you down to the Cape for a day. Go see Cape Point, go on Seal Island, etc. Then maybe opt for a day in to the Wine Country or Great White Shark diving.
Those hop on hop off buses are worth their weight in gold.

Sorry for the grammatical errors. In a rush! But I hope I helped!

Accommodation:
Westin: Would not recommend for leisure travel as the staff and location are geared for business travelers. If I went back, I would stay either in Camps Bay or Stellenbosch.

Food recs:
Mzoli’s: in Gugulethu township, excellent grilled meats
Savoy Cabbage: a delicious meal
Codfather: pick your seafood to be grilled with tasty cajun seasoning

If you can spare the time:
Gorah Elephant Camp: A great safari experience, excellent food, and wonderful staff
Garden route: a beautiful drive
