Vanilla Reloads Cash Only in NYC CVS’s

Yesterday I went to two different CVS’s in NYC to purchase Vanilla Reloads and struck out both times. This is an update to my post Sunday where I suggest that it was the last day to purchase Vanilla Reloads with a credit card.

Store #1: The first store had beyond plenty of Vanilla Reload cards available and immediately upon reaching the checkout counter the cashier told me cash only. She said that although some stores are still allowing them to be purchased with credit card until April 4, NYC stores are not.

Store #2: This is a store a frequent quite often and hardly ever has Vanilla Reloads in stock. They actually had a nice chuck available and I took $2,000 worth to the counter. The cashier didn’t say anything and put $500 on each of the four cards. I swiped my credit card and thought I scored big time. Well, unfortunately the system did not let the transaction through so she called the manager over. The manager said cash only and confirmed that the system would not put it through. So I struck out again.

So it looks like the system actually has parameters in place in certain stores already where it will not allow the transaction to go through. It seems like it is already implemented in NYC.

Some other areas are still allowing purchases through end of day today. But, before you go running around your local town trying to purchase them, I suggest calling to see if they will accept credit cards or not.

RIP Vanilla Reloads at CVS. Until another great opportunity comes around…

What other sources are there to reload Bluebird with credit cards other than Vanilla Reloads?
Is Bluebird R.I.P. As a result of the CVS policy change?

You mean RIP Vanilla Reloads at CVS. Aren’t there other places to buy vanilla reloads?

@Joey. Not with a credit card that anyone can seem to find.
I have a feeling if they do, and I’m certain many have tried, they might be very quiet about for fear of getting shut down.

@Geoff. A better way to say it is “Not with a credit card that anyone is willing to tell.”

In mid February Circle K gas in south Florida was selling VR with a credit card……but it is a slow transaction as they use two different registers to authorize/make the sale……..you must be patient and willing to hold others up who are just trying to pay for gas……….But it is VR and it is credit card…..
