This is a reminder that the Amex Sync promotion at Staples is ending tomorrow, Wednesday April 30, 2014. This promotion will give you a $20 statement credit for a $100+ purchase at Staples in-store and online.
Unfortunately if you have not yet synced your Amex card to this promotion the offer reached its maximum capacity within a few hours of being launched. But for those of you that were able to sync the promo to your account you must make your purchase by end of day tomorrow to receive the $20 statement credit. Remember, you can take advantage of this offer for each Amex card you synced. I personally was able to sync 8 cards, so am able to get a total of $160 back in statement credits!
The real perk of this offer is that you are able to purchase physical gift cards in store for $100 and it will still trigger the $20 statement credit! This works for Staples gift cards or any other merchant gift card. The promotion specifically states that e-gift cards are not eligible and unfortunately the e-gift cards online are the ones with no fee, while the regular gift cards cary a $1.99 fee. I am not quite sure how Amex will know what type of gift card purchase you make, but to play it safe, I suggest purchasing a regular gift card until there are reports that both work (if in fact this is the case). Also, Staples sells Visa gift cards, although they do come with a $5.95 fee (for a $100 card) or $6.95 fee (for a $200 card). Yesterday I also posted that you can now purchase $200 gift cards online, but I wouldn’t recommend doing it for this particular Amex Sync purchase because the shipment is delayed and the transaction might not hit your card until May – to receive the $20 statement credit the transaction must hit your credit card no later then 4/30/14.
I absolutely love the American Express Sync concept and have received a bunch of statement credits due to making purchase with a registered Amex credit card. Remember, these promotions are only valuable to those with an American Express card (no Corporate or prepaid cards) and is only a one-time statement credit.
If you have multiple Amex cards, you will need to sync them to different accounts. To learn more about these American Express Sync promotions, read this Amex Sync series:
