I’ve written about Uber before (plenty I know, and I am sure some of you are sick of it, but…) Uber is an “On-demand car service that allows everyone to have a private driver experience through iPhone, SMS, and web based requests.”

It is less expensive then a car service, but slightly more expensive than a yellow cab (might actually be cheaper depending on which city you are in). Your credit card is stored in your account so there is no exchange of money at the end of the ride. Additionally, tip is included and no cash or credit card is needed – everything is linked to your account. The cars are also extremely new/clean, and the company will even text you with the drivers name for extra security.

New User Promotion:

Sign up for Uber through a referral link. They just upped the promotion to 1 free ride up to $30. You can sign up using my Uber referral link, or get a friend to refer you – just do not miss out on the free credit money.

It used to be just a flat $10 credit that could be used amongst many rides (although $10 isn’t going to get you that far), and for the summer they’ve changed it to 1 free ride worth $30. So of course you are better off using your free ride on an expensive ride that will cost at least $30. Using it to go down the street isn’t worth it, so for those times just take a taxi until you can really maximize on your $30 free! There is currently no end date to this promotion.

This is only valid for those who sign up in the US and the credit will only work for rides in the US as well.
