Amex Sync: Buy an Amex Gift Card and Get $10 Back!

American Express came out with a great Amex Sync promotion this morning where if you buy a $200 American Express gift card you’ll get a $10 statement credit. While this is only a 5% savings, it is still free money! This promotion expires July 30, 2014

This promotion is available via Twitter, AmericanExpress.com, and Facebook. The easiest option I find is twitter because you can then sync the offer for all of your American Express cards and take advantage multiple times. The twitter hashtag is #AmexGiftCard. My assumption is enrollment will be maxed out soon, so make sure to sync now!

American Express charges $8.95 to ship gift cards, but if you use code DGPCM shipping will be free. As of right now, BeFrugal is the only online shopping portal I can find that gives cash back on gift card purchases even if a coupon code is used (some portals state that if you use a coupon code it will negate the cash back). So if you go through BeFrugal.com you might earn an additional 3% cash back, although I am not 100% sure (it might still not work if using a coupon code, but might as well try). Let me know if you have any experience with this.

Comments

  1. Sure would be valuable to learn any concrete comments on whether using the shipping code is negating cb. Anyone? I’ll be trying this deal later tonight and will also post results soonest i can

  2. FSGRAD promo code worked for me on 7-1-14. Better to use FSGRAD to save about $9 versus using DGPCM to only save about $4. I went through Top Cashback which is showing a 3% rebate on their site.

  3. thinking of buying $200 x 50. What is the best way to liquidate these AmEx cards since they have no PIN?

    • @James from BNA – They are not as easiest as Visa and Mastercard, but some ways to liquidate: 1) See if you can purchase Visa/Mastercards and then load to Bluebird; 2) Use Amazon Payments; 3) Purchase gift cards for friends as gifts at Staples, CVS, etc. 4) Pay your taxes, although you’ll pay a fee
