Starwood Preferred Guest is offering a 10% bonus when transferring SPG points to British Airways Avios points. This promotion ends September 30, 2014.Â
Typically you can transfer your SPG points to Avios at a 1:1 ratio and if you transfer 20,000 points you’ll earn a 5,000 point bonus (which is the case for all airline transfers). So for every 20,000 points you transfer you’ll end up with 27,500 points. I personally will not be taking advantage of this promotion as there are many other ways to earn British Airways points and I value my SPG points too high.
But… for those that typically like to earn SPG points to transfer them to various airline partners, this could be an okay promotion for you. There has been far better transfer promotions in the past as a 10% bonus is pretty weak, although those promotions are few and far between.
