UPDATE: Registration is closed. But, if you successfully registered, you can still take that test drive and earn the 7,500 miles.

If you keep up with the other points, miles, travel blogs, you’ve probably already read about this, but if not… you can currently earn 7,500 American Airline miles with giving up less then an hour of your time! American just launched a partnership with Cadillac where if you test drive any Cadillac you can earn 7,500 miles. The terms even state that the test drive only takes 10 minutes!Screen Shot 2014-10-16 at 10.57.40 AM

“At Cadillac, we believe it’s not just the ultimate destination that makes the journey worthwhile but also the enjoyment of the miles in between.

Right now, AAdvantage® members can earn 7,500 AAdvantage miles when you test drive any Cadillac* vehicle, including the striking 2015 CTS sedan with available adaptive cruise control and available OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi®**. The available Wi-Fi® hotspot works inside your CTS and up to 50 feet away as long as your vehicle is on, while the 4G LTE allows you to use your laptop or tablet as a mobile office with a reliable connection.

Contact a Cadillac Concierge today at 844-469-2234 to schedule an appointment and participate in this exclusive limited time offer. Please allow 4-6 weeks to receive your AAdvantage miles.

Travel well.”

The details state that the test drive only takes 10 minutes. So depending on the distance of a participating location to where you live, maybe this takes an hour max.

The easiest way to set up an appointment is to talk to a customer service rep via the Cadillac.com website. They will collect your information to get you a test drive time. I went through the process and someone from the dealership is supposed to be calling me. Let’s see if that happens though. Make sure to ask the customer service rep if your desired location is participating in the promotion. I suggest calling the dealership to verify too.

I see no set end date of this promotion, but I suggest setting up a test drive sooner than later. The terms do state that it will take 4-6 weeks for the miles to be deposited to your account.

Has anyone yet taken a Cadillac for a spin?

I haven’t done the test drive yet, but I heard something on another blog about a $221 charge involved. Do you know if this is correct? If not, I’m in like Flynn!

Question is: are they going to issue a 1099 for $221 like banks do for opening checking accounts? Or will they not, like banks do for opening credit card accounts?

My mistake, it is that they are valuing the miles at $221 which is neither here nor there, since we all value miles differently, depending on what we use them for. This seems like a win-win to me, as aside from regular spending, it helps to get a chunk of miles in other places. I’ll gladly take a test drive of a nice car on a weekend or week night to pick up 7500 miles…

The easiest way to contact them is through a callback system called “Lucy.” Through “DansDeals” I found the link to this system from someone named Joseph. At the bottom of where it says to input your # you will see that it is powered by “GetHuman and Lucy.’ Click on Lucy as that seems to be the most reliable. The original way did call back as well,5-10 mins later, but took much longer.
