During small business Saturday (Saturday November 29th) you can get up to a $30 statement credit when using a registered American Express credit card at participating small businesses in your local community. With each card you are able to get a $10 statement credit with a $10 purchase up to 3 times. You can only receive one credit per American Express card, but there is no limit to the number of cards you can register. If you have multiple Amex cards and have an expensive purchase, have the local business split the charges amongst the various cards you have!

Small Business Saturday

To be eligible, you must  first register for this promotion starting TODAY! Or, you can tweet #AmexShopSmall with every Twitter account that is linked to an American Express credit card. Registration is limited, so I suggest registering now!

Example of Amex cards you can register:

  • Starwood American Express
  • Hilton American Express
  • Costco American Express
  • Bloomingdales American Express
  • Macy’s American Express
  • American Express Gold Rewards Card
  • American Express Platinum Card
  • Citi AAdvantage American Express
  • Blue Cash Everyday by American Express
  • Amex EveryDay
  • Bluebird by American Express
  • American Express Serve

There are obviously more Amex cards out there but the list above is a good sample. These include co-branded Amex cards, Citi Amex cards, store specific Amex cards, and then your simple Amex cards that earn Membership Rewards points. Business versions of these cards also qualify. Although corporate credit cards will not work. If you have added authorized users, those cards are also eligible as long as they have a separate account number from the primary card. So secondary cards that have the same account number which is typically the case for the Citi American Express cards will not work.

You can search for participating Small Business stores here.

I haven’t yet figured out definitely where I will be “shopping” on Small Business Saturday, but most likely a local restaurant. Last year I purchased a bunch of gift cards to use at a future time.

for additional users to qualify, do you mean a separate card number, or a separate account? i have an additional user card and it’s a different card number, but the charge goes onto my account.

@ dealswelike I mean I check these participate stores around my area and thinking what can I buy from that stores. They don’t sell Visa or Master gift cards.

Can you have 3 transactions at the same merchant and receive $10.00 back 3 times on each card?

If I spend $30 in “one purchase” at a merchant, will I get the $30 credit, or does it need to be 3 separate transactions? Thanks.
