Over the past month or so I’ve written about a few good deals on getting discounted gift cards. This is not through purchasing gift cards via a third-party website, but instead using the various Amex Offers to purchase another merchant gift card at a store you might not even realized sold gift cards for other merchants! Here is a compiled list so you can see which offers give you the best savings:

  • 12.5% savings at Newegg.com: Here you can purchase a $200+ gift card and receive a $25 statement credit. Merchant gift cards include: American Airlines, Carnival Cruise, AMC Theater, JCPenney, Hyatt. Maggianos, Gap, Old Navy, Kohl’s, KMart, Footlocker, etc. This offer expires December 31, 2014. You can sync all of your American Express credit cards on Twitter using hashtag #AmexNewegg.
  • 20% savings at Toys R Us and Babies R Us: Here you can purchase a $25+ gift card and receive a $5 statement credit. Merchant gift cards include: Amazon, iTunes, Subway, Burger King, Olive Garden, Ruby Tuesdays, Chili’s, TGI Fridays, Pizza Hut, UNOs, Outback, Dunkin’ Donuts, Cracker Barrel, AMC, Ticketmaster, Regal Movies, Xbox, Shell, Sears, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. This offer is valid for in-store only and gift cards differ per store. • 10% savings at Best Buy: Here you can purchase a $250+ gift card and receive a $25 statement credit. Merchant gift cards include: Amazon, iTunes, and Visa gift cards. Some stores no longer sell Amazon and Visa gift cards so it will vary depending on your local Best Buy. This offer expires December 31, 2014. Maximum number of people have enrolled via Twitter, so check your AmericanExpress.com account if you have not yet registered.
  • 20% savings at Office Depot and Office Max: Here you can purchase a $50 gift+ gift card and receive a $10 statement credit. Merchant gift cards at Office Max include: Kohl’s, Lowe’s, Macy’s, Panera, Southwest, Subway, etc. Merchant gift cards at Office Depot includes: Bed Bath & Beyond, Bloomingdale’s, Exxon/Mobile, Gap, Macy’s, Shell, Starbucks, etc. You can also purchase Visa gift cards and make some money off the deal. This offer expires December 31, 2014. Maximum number of people have enrolled via Twitter, so check your AmericanExpress.com account if you have not yet registered.
  • 60% savings at Amazon.com: This is a VERY targeted offer, but you can purchase a $15+ gift card and receive a $15 statement credit. However, most merchant gift cards at Amazon.com start at $25, so essentially with this offer you can purchase a $25 gift card and receive a $15 statement credit. Merchant gift cards include: Whole Foods, Cheesecake Factory, Nordstrom, American Eagle, Outback, Bonefish Grill, Panera, AMC Theaters, DSW, Sports Authority, etc. This offer expires December 31, 2014. You will need to check your AmericanExpress.com account to see if you were targeted.

Keep in mind that the gift cards I listed for each store is just a sample as many of the stores have many more for sale. Also, if you haven’t registered for the offer yet, I suggest doing so soon. Many of the twitter offers reach maximum capacity quickly.

    • @hi there – thanks for the positive feedback! I’ll try to put together a post with that but it might take me some time. But I agree that will be very beneficial!

  2. Cool. Also, I recently saw amex offers for Bed Bath Works and Bed Beth Beyond, so those two would also be helpful to add to the list.
