The on-demand taxi/black car service Gett is back to offering flat $10 rides almost anywhere in Manhattan! As long as you are traveling south of 110th Street, you’ll get a $10 ride + no surge pricing.

This is a similar service to Uber where you request your car through their phone app and pay with your credit card already on file. On the Gett app you set the tip for each ride, although you can change it per ride if you want to as well. So ultimately you are paying a flat $10 plus whatever you decide to give the driver for a tip. This is an amazing deal to get from one side to another side of the city. This is for a limited time and as of right now I haven’t been able to see an expiration date.

To try out Gett, they are giving new members $20 to sign up if you sign up through a referral link. To do this, you will need to first download the Gett App and in the Coupon Code field enter GTJENNI56 (my referral link, but feel free to leave your referral link in the comments section as well – the referee will also earn $20 in credits after the referral takes their first ride).

Some things to keep in mind with Gett:

  • You receive 3 minutes of free waiting time and after that they will charge you $1 per minimum
  • The $10 flat ride does not include additional stops – if you require an additional stop it will be $5 per stop (and up to two additional stops per ride allowed)
  • You are allowed to take advantage of the $10 rides up to 4 times per day
  • If the ride goes longer than 45 minutes, you might be charged more (I haven’t experienced this, so I am not sure how this plays out)

I’ve used Gett a few times. Some have experienced long wait times, but that has never happened to me. I also do not tend to be traveling during high demand times. My on-demand car service app of choice, however, is Via since it is only a flat $5, but they do not run 24 hours and you cannot get everywhere in the city. I go back and forth between Gett, Via, and Uber depending on where I am going and the time of day. You can check out a list of all NYC car service apps here.

Have you tried out Gett yet? And if so, what is your experience?

Thanks for the post. Gett is the best car service in Manhattan and a free $20 credit is compelling. Visit http://bit.ly/Gett20.

Last 3 cars I’ve riden in are: BMW X3, Escalade, Towncar

Few know that Gett has a frequent loyalty program and its algorithm allocates nicer and standby cars the more you use the service.
