Yesterday I wrote about Uber’s $10 flat rides in Manhattan (with UberPOOL) and it seems like that struck a chord with some competition! I received an email this morning that Lyft is now offering flat $5 rides with their Lyft Line service! That means half the price for the same ride. Lyft Line is a ride sharing service where you might pick up/drop off passengers along a similar route as you. I personally have never tried Lyft Line so cannot compare it to Uber or Via, but I have only heard good things.
$5 per ride offer!
For a limited time (an end date was not given), all rides whether you pick up another passenger or not will be $5. And similar to the Uber promotion, this is only for service in Manhattan south of 97th street. When requesting a Lyft Line you can select more than one passenger and each additional rider will cost $1.
Both the Lyft and Uber promotion are great ways to get around the city. Gett is also offering $10 rides south of 110th street (no ride sharing required through this service!). There is also Via which always has a flat $5 fee (this is not a promotional rate, just their normal pricing!), but they do not run 24/7 like Lyft, Uber, and Gett. I personally recommend having all four apps on your phone and requesting the service that has less wait time.
If you are new to Lyft you can also get $30 in credits by signing up through a referral link or using code JENNIFER347533. Feel free to leave your own Lyft referral codes in the comments section below.
