If you follow a lot of blogs, you might have read last week that the Southwest 50,000 point offer credit card was ending. But guess what?! It is still available, just not through affiliate links. Those same blogs are now back to offering the 25,000 point offer, but through different application links you can still get the 50,000 point offer!

  • Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards® Premier Card – $99/year fee, but you receive 6,000 points after year cardmember year – which is worth about $86 towards a future Southwest “Wanna Getaway” fare.
  • Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards® Premier Business Card – $99/year fee, but you receive 6,000 points after year cardmember year – which is worth about $86 towards a future Southwest “Wanna Getaway” fare.
  • Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards® Plus Card – unfortunately I am not able to find a working link for this card

As I mentioned in a prior post earlier this week, NOW is the perfect time to apply for the card(s) as it will help you earn companion status. Related post: Earning the Southwest Companion. If you meet the minimum spend requirement in 2016, you will earn the companion pass for all of 2016 and 2017. This means another passenger can fly with you an UNLIMITED number of times during the life of the pass. It is AMAZING. And there really are no gimmicks to it. If a seat is available for sale, it is yours!

Note: This post DOES NOT contain affiliate links. I am pushing this because it is my favorite perk in the entire travel industry!!!

I applied for these two today and got rejected… Chase says I have too many cards and too much credit with them, almost 75% of my total income. Do you think it’ll be beneficial to close a few accounts and appeal shortly after? Anyone have experience with this?

I asked but she could not give me a definitive answer. I’m planning to ask my other cards to reduce my credit line and close two of my chase accounts but unsure if that will make things worse or not help at all

My husband currently has a southwest card (and I have a linked card with my name). If he cancels the card today, how soon before he can reapply to get the 50K bonus points? I’d like us both to apply for both cards to get the companion passes in early 2016 (to use with our kids). thanks!
