Late Thursday night I posted that Hyatt was doing an instant status match to those who could prove status with another hotel chain. It is unclear exactly what other hotel chains status you need to be matched to Hyatt Diamond, but I can speak to my own personal success.
Around 11pm ET I emailed Hyatt Gold Passport showing them a screen shot documenting my status at many competing hotel chains. This included: IHG Spire Elite, Marriott Platinum, SPG Gold, and Hilton Gold. Additionally I sent them a screenshot showing at least one stay at all four chains within the past 12 months (that was a requirement too).
About 36 hours went by and I received an email from Hyatt Gold Passport congratulating me on my Hyatt Diamond status through February 2017!
I’ve had Hyatt Diamond status in the pass and am extremely excited to have it back again! My favorite perks of Diamond status include:
- Complimentary access to the Regency Club or Grand Club lounge. Lounges have continental breakfast, evening hors d’oeuvres, and typically snacks and drinks throughout the day. And if a hotel doesn’t have a club lounge you’ll get full breakfast at the hotel restaurant.
- Four suite upgrades to use on paid or cash + point stays. This allows you to call Hyatt ahead of time and if there is a suite available they will automatically upgrade you at the time of calling. This only applies to the lowest suite level category at the hotel.
- 4pm late check-out
- 30% bonus on all points earned.
If you have status at another hotel and have not yet requested your status match, there still might be time. I really do not know and Hyatt isn’t saying much on Tiwtter as I am sure they are beyond overwhelmed with emails. The email is: goldpassport@hyatt.com
If you already requested the match and have not yet received an email, check your Hyatt account to see if you’ve been upgraded. From reports I’ve read, it seems like some accounts have been upgraded but email notifications were not sent.

Even though I am SPG Platinum and HHonors Diamond, offer from Hyatt is only to Platinum … meh, I can get that from a simple credit card app.
I don’t undwerstand. I sent in m SPG Platinum credentials and they gave me Hyatt Diamond. I have not yet received the 4 suite upgrades though. I called and they said could take a couple days for them to sho up,
People were reporting the DSU’s showed up within a day, so give it a bit more time.
Same here. Just platinum. Not impressed at all.
Via Twitter was told that I was only eligible for platinum, not very useful as IMO HH gold offers more. Might be useful if there is a challenge program next year. Had 14 stays booked with Hyatt too, which will be changing.
I sent over necessary documentation late Friday afternoon for me and my husband but I haven’t hear anything back from them. I imagine they have ALOT of emails to go thru.
I sent mine on Friday morning and I am still waiting to hear about my diamond match. Been over 36 hrs
received hyatt diamond for my marriott platinum, but suite upgrades aren’t showing up … i emailed them, waiting to hear back … hoping to use suite upgrades for upcoming trip to waikiki
I think the while thing is no good. I’m a plat, through stays, and usually land upgrades. Now I have to compete with freebie diamonds. If I were diamond I’d be pissed. More competition and it’s not earned. This devalues Hyatt’s existing loyalists.

Hyatt asked me to send a screenshot of the status and a stay for this year. Should the stay be at any hyatt or a stay at any of the memberships you have?

You lucked out, now they say they only match to Hyatt Diamond with SPG Platinum. The rest will just match to Platinum.
