Still Time for Hilton’s Status Match

This post may contain affiliate links from our advertising partners. Read my Advertiser Disclosure policy here. Additionally, some of the offers on this page may no longer be available through Deals We Like.

A few weeks ago I wrote about an extremely generous status match opportunity from Hilton. With this offer, no Hilton stays are required and instead you’ll get instant status on Hilton if you can prove status at another loyalty program.

Based on some reports I’ve been reading, here are the statuses that have been matched:

Hilton HHonors Gold

  • Marriott Gold
  • Ritz-Carlton Gold
  • Starwood Gold
  • Hyatt Platinum

Hilton HHonors Diamond

  • Marriott Platinum
  • Ritz-Carlton Platinum
  • Starwood Platinum
  • Hyatt Diamond
  • IHG Platinum or Spire Elite
  • Accor Platinum

I’ve also read reports of folks getting upgraded to Gold and kindly responding back requesting Diamond. Some requests have been honored, so it is worth a try! Just make sure to make a compelling argument.

The best match is that they will give you Diamond status if you are IHG Platinum. For those not aware of the IHG Platinum program, you automatically receive Platinum just by having their credit card. This is also a very popular credit card since it only costs $49/year and you receive a free night at ANY IHG hotel every year. So I foresee many Hilton Diamond members this year…

To Claim Your Status Match…

Email HHonorMyStatus@hilton.com with a screen shot proving status with your other loyalty program. They state this will go through January 11, 2016, but I suggest requesting status sooner then later! They’ve been extremely quick responding and upgrading status.

Comment below if you’ve had any different success then what I’ve reported above.

Is this once in a lifetime?

Hilton ironically will not honor this “status match” if you are already a DIAMOND with HHonors but will lose the status in February 2016. They are promoting all lower levels and punishing those who have supported them for many years but didn’t quite earn the Diamond status for next year. I think I’ll move on to MARRIOTT or HYATT. I have top tier in both as well as SPG and they refuse to match for 2016-2017 since I’m currently DIAMOND. Sorry HILTON but GOODBYE!

I had same experience with Hyatt. Current Diamond will not be extended, even though by their “rules” I would qualify for a Diamond match.

If I wait until early January to request a status match, will the status carry through into the following year (2017)?

Filled out the HH form and uploaded Marriott Rewards proof 48 hrs ago. Haven’t heard back. (Read another travel blog where the person received a positive reply within 2 hrs that they were granted HH Diamond status). Are they back logged due to the holiday?
