Top 10 Credit Cards for March

This post may contain affiliate links from our advertising partners, such as American Express. Read my Advertiser Disclosure policy here. Additionally, some of the offers on this page may no longer be available through Deals We Like.

Since credit card offers are constantly changing, I wanted to point out my top offers on a monthly basis. Of course this list does not include all offers currently available, which you can see a compiled list here. Many of these offers are available for limited time, although not all of them have an exact expiration date tied to them. While I typically limit my credit card recommendations to 5, there are actually so many great offers going on right now which brought me to a top 10 list. Here are my personal favorite credit cards for March 2016 with my top personal offers listed first.

  • Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express: Earn 35,000 bonus points after you spend $3,000 on the card within the first 3 months of card membership. Annual fee waived for the first year and then $95/year. This is a limited time offer and the best offer we’ve ever seen for the card. This offer has expired. *Terms and limitations apply .
    • Perks: This is one of my two everyday go-to cards for purchases that do not fit in a bonus spend category for other cards. I absolutely love earning Starwood points and find them extremely valuable. When redeeming Starwood points you also receive your 5th night free when redeeming at category 3-7 hotels and their Cash & Point redemption options are very favorable. Additionally, if you prefer miles you can transfer your SPG points to many airlines at a 1:1 ratio and get a 5,000 bonus for every 20,000 increments transferred over. This can be a great value and makes the Starwood card more valuable on your everyday spend then any other airline card. This will give you much more flexibility and a 25% increase in miles if you decide to redeem your points for flights. By having the card you receive 2 stays and 5 nights towards status annually. And if you have both the personal and business card you can get those stays/nights towards status per card!

  • Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit CardEarn 80,000 Marriott points after spending $3,000 on the card in the first three months + Free night (category 1-5) upon annual account renewal. $85 annual fee. As of right now, I am not sure when this offer is ending. To apply for this card, click here and then select the “Limited Time Credit Card Offers” option.
    • Perks: Typically this card offers 50,000 points, so an 80,000 point offer great! This is one of the first credit cards I applied for in the points and miles world and while I do not use the card for my every day spend, it is a card I’ve held on to year after year. While the free night upon account renewal is capped at a category 5 hotel, I am always able to get more then $85 out of the free night. I’d say on average I get a $150 value out of the free night. The card also gives 15 nights towards status annually which came in very handy when I used to stay at Marriott hotels often, but needed the extra boost to hit Platinum status.

  • British Airways Visa: LIMITED TIME OFFER – Earn up to 100,000 bonus points with the following structure – 50,000 bonus points after $2,000 in purchases within the first 3 months, 25,000 bonus points after $10,000 in purchases within the first year, and an additional 25,000 bonus points after making an additional $10,000 in purchases within the first year. $95 annual fee. As of right now, I am not sure when this offer is ending. To apply for this card, click here and then select the “Limited Time Credit Card Offers” option.
    • Perks: I highly value British Airways Avios points as I have been able to use them on American Airlines domestic flights for a lot less than it would cost to redeem AAdvantage miles.  For example, New York to Toronto is 4,500 points or New York to Ft. Lauderdale is 7,500 points. There are many amazing redemption opportunities for partner flights! Additionally, if you spend $30,000 on the card in a calendar year, you can earn a “Travel Together” ticket which allows a companion to fly with you for no additional miles. You just need to pay the taxes on the flight. This can only be used on a British Airways operated, which can occur some hefty taxes.

  • Chase Sapphire Preferred: Earn 50,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 on the card within the first three months. The annual fee for this card is $95/year, but is waived for the first year. For the past few years this card was only offering 40,000 bonus points, so getting an extra 50,000 points is quite nice! To apply for this card, click here and then select the “Limited Time Credit Card Offers” option.
    • Perks: This card is one of the best overall “travel” related credit cards. You’ll earn double points at restaurants, airfare, and hotels and points never expire as long as you have the card. The main reason this is one of the best cards is due to how flexible the points are when it comes to redeeming. You can use your points three different ways: 1) Transfer to a partner airline, including United, British Airways (American Airline partner), Korean Airways, Singapore Air, Hyatt, InterContinental Hotels Group, Ritz-Carlton, and Marriott. I personally value 50,000 points at $1,000. 2) Pay for travel through the Chase Ultimate Rewards travel booking site. This allows you to pay for anything travel related with NO blackout dates AND you can earn frequent flyer points for your booked travel. With this card you will get a 25% bump when redeeming your points this way which means 1 point = 1.25 cent and 50,000 points is equal to a cut and dry $625. 3) Or you can always opt for cash back where 1 point = 1 cent, so the 50,000 bonus points will give you a quick and easy $500 to use however you so desire!

  • Chase Ink PlusEarn 60,000 points after $5,000 spend within the first three months. Annual fee waived for the first year then $95/year.
    • Perks: This card is part of the Chase Ultimate Rewards program and points earned can be transferred to many loyalty programs (my favorites being Hyatt, British Airways, and United). One of the best perks of this card is that you get 5x points at office supply stores and on all telecommunication costs (cell phone, internet, etc.). At office supply stores your entire purchase earns the 5x benefit, including gift card purchases! For telecommunications, let’s say you spend $400/month on everything (pretty easy to do for a family, unfortunately!), that will give you 24,000 points a year – or close enough to a domestic plane ticket!

    • Perks: Receive HHonors Silver status and you can earn HHonors Gold status if you make $20,000 or more in purchases on the card within the calendar year. As mentioned above, Hilton Gold status will get you complimentary breakfast and potentially lounge access. If you spend $1,000 or more at Hilton hotels (at any of the Hilton brands, such as Hampton Inn, Conrad, Waldorf, etc.), you’ll earn 10,000 Hilton HHonors Bonus Points. • Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express: Earn up to $300 back – $100 cash back after spending $1,000 in purchases within the first three months of Card Membership, PLUS 10% cash back on the first $2,000 spent at U.S. Wireless Telephone Service Providers through December 31, 2016 (up to $200). No annual fee. Limited time offer is valid for those that sign up by June 15, 2016. *Terms and conditions apply. THIS OFFER HAS EXPIRED
    • Perks: This card will earn you 3% cash back at U.S. supermarkets (up to $6,000 per year in purchases), 2% cash back at U.S. gas stations and select U.S. department stores, and 1% cash back on all other purchases. This is one of the better no annual fee cash back cards for supermarkets. I also enjoy no annual fee American Express cards where I can earn statement credits with Amex Offers. This is the highest offer we’ve seen for the card, although the sign up bonus doesn’t come close to rivaling some of the other offers out there.

This is one of the best cards available for earning cash back at supermarkets, but is only worth it (compared to the no annual fee version of this card), if you spend $2,500 or more at participating supermarkets throughout the calendar year. Similar to the Everyday card, you’ll also earn statement credits if you take advantage of the Amex Offers. This is the highest offer we’ve seen for the card, although the sign up bonus doesn’t come close to rivaling some of the other offers out there.

With this card you also have access to the American Express OPEN Savings where you’ll receive a 5% statement credit at participating merchants (Hertz, Hyatt, FedEx, etc.). And since it is an American Express you can take advantage of my favorite promotions – the Amex Offers where you can earn statement credits for select purchases.
