Virgin America Status Match

Virgin America is running an offer where if you have status with another airline they will give you instant status in their loyalty program for the next 90 days. You then have to earn a certain number of points to maintain the status through the end of 2017. Depending on your status with the other airline, you can be matched to either Elevate Gold or Elevate Silver.

The interesting thing to note is that those with the Southwest Companion Pass can automatically match to Elevate Gold. I know this is a status that many Deals We Like readers have. If you have one of the above status’s with United, American, Delta, or Southwest, then you’ll need to email Virgin America (statusmatch@virginamerica.com) with your name, Elevate number, and a screenshot of your most recent mileage summary or copy of your membership card showing your name and current elite level.

Note that if you’ve received a status match in 2015, you are not eligible to take advantage of this current offer. Also, it will take approximately 7 to 14 days for your status to be updated after sending in your information.

Maintaining Status

While you’ll receive the Silver or Gold for the first three months, if you want to keep your status for another 21 months (through the end of 2017), you’ll need to earn the following points:

If you happen to have the Virgin America credit card, you’ll need to earn significantly less points to maintain that status.

Thanks to The Points Guys and View from The Wing for sharing this offer!

Any idea if credit card holders can earn their 8k points the “easy way”? Cannot find any data points on that.
