Hilton is offering the opportunity to get an instant status match opportunity for those who can prove status with another loyalty program! The terms state that if you are eligible, you will earn your matched status through March 2018, which is pretty amazing! While I cannot find anything in the terms on when you must submit your status by, I do recall a June 30, 2016 date for some reason.
The Hilton status you receive will be determined based on your status with the other hotel chain. They do not give an equivalent chart, but my assumption is you’ll be matched based on the status below:
- Hilton Gold = SPG Gold, Marriott Gold, Ritz-Carlton Gold, Hyatt Platinum, IHG Platinum Elite, Club Carlson Gold
- Hilton Diamond = SPG Platinum, Marriott Platinum, Ritz-Carlton Platinum, Hyatt Diamond, IHG Spire Elite, Club Carlson Concierge
Hilton status is one of my favorite statuses since you receive free breakfast even as a Gold. So if you have mid or top tier status at another hotel chain, I highly recommend uploading a screen shot on the site and and proof of at least one stay within the past 12 months. not sure if they’d still do it, but last year i was able to match to hilton diamond from best western diamond (and one can attain BW diamond from all of SPG Gold, Marriott Gold, Ritz-Carlton Gold, Hyatt Platinum, IHG Platinum Elite, Club Carlson Gold, I’m pretty sure).

How can I tell when my status expires?
@andrew – I Wasn’t able to see a place on my account online so just called the Hilton HHonors line and they were able to tell me.
I had previously gotten the Diamond match through my Hyatt Diamond status last year. I applied for this round through Starwood Platinum status, since Hilton Diamond status into 2018 is great. I didn’t get any response after two weeks, so I emailed Hilton, and after a few days was informed that my prior status match ending in 2017 would apply, not the latest match attempt. Undaunted, I tried live chat today, and got the same answer. No dice. Any suggestions?
I applied in December, 2015 and got the match to my IHG Platinum status to 2017. I re-sent my request twice in 2016 to try for the 2018 expiration but got no reply. I called today and was told I was only Diamond until 2017. When I whined, the CS transferred me to a supervisor who extended me to 2018. I had only a few paid stays at IHG properties in 2015 but am a long time HHonors member.
In the T&C’s it does state “Offer is valid for recipient only. Invitation and offer is non-transferable. Offer only redeemable once for the lifetime of the promotion……” So perhaps this is why those of us who got it through 2017 don’t get extended to 2018.
@marilyn – I personally matched status last year and then was able to do it again this time around. I also never received this invitation via email.
My husband and I are both IHG Platinum Elite, and we were each given Diamond status.
I submitted it couple days ago and I haven’t received anything yet, I thought it didn’t go through so I tried again and it said my HHonors# is already taken. I wish they would at least send a confirmation email. I don’t believe it’s an instant match, well at least not for me..
@Thomas – When I submitted my match I didn’t receive anything either. When I called they told me my status expires in 2018.
My question is strictly technical, how can you send a proof of your status with other programs to Hilton?
