The Iceland based low-cost carrier, WOW Air, is expanding their service to Pittsburgh. This will be the 7th US destination (including Boston, Baltimore, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Miami). This is a nice inexpensive way for those that live near Pittsburgh to get to Iceland or other cities throughout Europe with a connection in Iceland. This service will start in June 2017 and prices starting at only $99 one way (or $149 to other connecting cities)!
With this new service, you’ll be able to fly to Iceland 4x a week as well as connect to many other cities throughout Europe.
I personally flew WOW Air from Boston to Reykjavik, Iceland a little more than a year ago and had a great experience! While they do charge extra for checked bags, oversized carry on luggage, and seat assignment, if you pack light and do not care where you sit for the short flight you shouldn’t experience any extra costs. Even if you do need to pay some extra, the cheap fare makes up for it! You can read my review here.
