If you follow this blog often, you already know that the Southwest Airlines Companion Pass is by far my favorite perk in the entire points and miles world. It allows a companion to fly with you for almost FREE (just pay taxes) an UNLIMITED number of times during the length of the pass. To earn the Southwest Airlines companion pass, you need a total of 110,000 qualifying points. While points can be earned many different ways (you can learn about the many ways here), one easy way to earn points is by referring your friends to the Southwest credit card! Right now, you’ll earn 10,000 bonus points for every friend/family member that you refer to the card (and they need to be approved as well). While you are capped at earning 50,000 bonus points (thus 5 referrals), it can get you almost half way to earning the pass!

As of right now, these bonus points DO count towards the companion pass. You’ll see them on your Southwest account as “Rapid Rewards Credit Card”. They post just like any other points earned from credit card spend. They also get clumped together with any points earned from credit card during your recent statement. Points earned from referrals post very quickly! They will post just a few days after your statement close date during the time when your referral was approved for the card.

IF you currently have a one of the two personal Southwest credit cards (either the Plus or Premier card), you can generate a referral link by going here and entering your last name, last 4 digits of your credit card number, and zip code. You can then post your referral link to your social media pages or email friends directly. Also, feel free to leave your referral link below in the comments section for other readers to use. Please only use this post to post your referral link.
