50% off British Airways Redemptions

Starting today, British Airways is offering 50% off reward travel flights for reservations booked within the next ten days (thru Friday August 12, 2011). This is a great opportunity to redeem British Airways miles, especially for those that transferred BA miles from American Express with the 50% bonus (which will now equal three times the value of the Membership Reward points transferred over)!

The class of travel included in this promotion includes:

  • Economy: World Traveller and Euro Traveller
  • Premium Economy: World Traveller Plus
  •  Business Class: Club Europe

*First class is excluded from this promotion and Business class is only available for travel within Europe (Club World class of travel which is Business Class outside of the US is excluded).

The promotion includes “any route flown on BA mainline scheduled services with a BA prefix, but not on services operated wholly or partly by BA’s franchisees, codeshare partners, or oneworld alliance members.” Unfortunately, it must be BA metal, which sometimes do come with steep taxes and fees.

Remember: Travel must be booked by midnight on August 12, 2011 BST (London time zone = 6:59pm EST). To avoid having to figure out the time zones, I’d suggest booking in advance! Additionally, travel with this promotion must be completed by August 3, 2012. For further Terms & Conditions click here.

  1. You might want to clarify the fact that you can’t book Club World either, not only FIRST.

So only economy or premium economy outside of Europe.

    P.S.: Except, not accept

    • @Mommypoints – It is a great deal! British Airways has definitely done well for themselves this year with offering 50% bonus on AMEX transfers, a 100,000 mile bonus BA credit card offer, and now 50% off their reward redemptions. They take the lead on best promotions for 2011 in my book!

  2. Wish the 50% transfer from Amex was still around. I didn’t transfer as I didnt foresee traveling on BA in the near future. But with this.. I dont know.

  3. Beware of BA’s taxes and fees. I question whether it makes any sense to use any amount of miles (no matter how few) to book anything other than business or first to Europe on BA.

    • @Stephen – As I mentioned in the post, you are correct, BA can have hefty taxes and fees, so definitely take a look at those when booking your travel. Many times taxes/fees out of London Heathrow can be especially steep.

    • @Jim – The T&C state: “This promotion may be used in conjunction with the BA American Express companion voucher and including Gold Upgrade for two vouchers but cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer, promotion or deal including but without limitation to (i) discount coupons or vouchers, (ii) special offers by BA or jointly with any other organisation, or (iii) bonus, awards, or certificates.”

So if you are referring to the BA American Express companion voucher, than you can absolutely combine the promotion with your voucher!

  4. I just checked ORD-LHR-GOT for JUNE next year for Premium Economy for 2 and got 90k miles and $2100 TAX and fee’s. Holy cow. I booked 2 FIRST CLASS Lufthansa and paid only $250ish! (yeah that was 270,000 miles but dang!)
