Via Ric at the Loyalty Traveler, by staying at any Sheraton, Four Points, Aloft, or Element hotel in North America you can receive 1,000 bonus Southwest points per stay on top of the regular SPG points earned. This promotion runs between August 1st and December 15, 2011, and you must register by October 15, 2011.

As some of you may remember, Southwest revamped its Rapid Rewards program at the beginning of 2011, and now have a cut and dry point system. Essentially, when redeeming a “Wanna Getaway Fare” at Southwest 1,000 points = $16.67. This could definitely get you one or two free Southwest flights as an added bonus.

Make sure you absolutely register whether you have plans to stay at a Starwood hotel or not as it does not hurt. If you decide to stay at one of the included hotel chains after the registration deadline, SPG will not be very accommodating with enrolling you into the promotion.

Also, if you fly Southwest often, their credit card promotion is coming to an end on August 7th.
